Contribuiți la feedbackWe stop in Portland, Maine every week on our way thur to waterville, maine. My husband decided to go to Langs Express for Chinese food this time he ordered the combination platter he had a beef teriyaki and egg roll, a wong tongue soup ,spicy noodles and a chicken dumpling. He said everything was delicious. He was very happy with the portions . He also mentioned that the phone is ringing off the hook with to go orders so the place must be good and all the local bus drivers, taxi drivers ,you name it they were running in to get their orders and leaving with their food so if the locals go here you know it's good. I did notice that there were only a few people that actually ate in the restaurant. Probably because of what at least one of the other posters had stated that everything inside is pretty old and dilapidated. I personally did not go inside I had a meal from a place across the street and ate it in the car. For the most part this is a takeout place.
For well over a decade, I have eaten at that restaurant almost many times, and the food was quite good. I normally eat in for either lunch or dinner, and I have ordered their delivery service from time to time. One time five years ago, they were a little late due to the minor confusion. They thought I said I'd order it from takeout, but I wasn't able to get out of the house due to the bad weather (the snow became a nightmare for some. I told them that if they can deliver like I did mention when I called for the Seafood Wor Bor and the Pu Pu Platter, they understood and made up for it. I was very fortunate that the staff even the aforementioned elderly guy were nice to me and nobody even yelled or cussed at me. They never even called me names let alone derogatory slurs of any persuasion. Now I live right near Lang's by only one block behind my home that I lived for almost two years now. I like the inside of the place. It reminds me of my childhood even before I was even 20. Some people say the interior is outdated, but I kind of liked it. It looks like good nostalgia and I like the vibe. I understand there were some bad conditions that really needed to be addressed like the bathrooms and the roof that really needed some extreme maintenance. But other than that, I give a top rating for nostalgia, and decent food with a reasonably decent price. Not much like Great Wall, but doesn't need to be. The portions are generous and the buffet is always the best reason to come for lunch. And best of all, you can have a whole variety of sodas with as many free refills as you like, and you can switch at any time you desire. I had delivery twice this year, and I would like to come back again for the lunch buffet, because at any time this year, I would get a serious hankering for some Chinese Food. This is the best Chinese restaurant closest to me. Of course there is another Chinese restaurant also nearby known as Wing Lee II. But I'm sticking with Lang's.
Speedy service and dank foodWhat else can I say. Ordered steamed dumplings and pupu platterBoth of which were excellent.
Lang's is an ok american chinese restaurantUsually pretty quick to get to us in Portland.
Remind me not to order from here againI used to be a fan, you could always bank on getting consistent decent dishes.
