DuckFat - Portland

I guess we must be the exception. My wife and I went into Duck Fat last night (12/9/10) around 6:00PM. We were seated at the counter, given menus and then COMPLETELY IGNORED for the next 25 minutes. Finally, after watching the waiter take one order over the phone and one take-out order from someone who came in after us, we walked out. While the food may be good, our experience with the service was horrible. I would like to give them another chance, but I just don 't know.

I love this restaurant. Their fries are by far the best fries I have ever had. If I get a fried food craving this is where I go. The paninnis are always well grilled and very tasty. Also the milkshakes are to die for. My only complaint is the small size and lack of seating. It is a popular place and I usually end up having to get my order to go because there is no where to sit.

We really enjoyed Duckfat! It is a smaller location and very popular so we wait about 30 min for lunch. They did a great job seat customer as soon as possible. Our server was very friendly and gave us great recommendations. We ordered Belgian frits, house soda and paninis. The food was incredible! Can?t recommend this place enough if you? in Portland.

Overall an excellent experience and would highly recommend. Fries were super crisp and amazing, but easy over salted. Ham/bread/golden Rosin Senf special was great. Lemon thyme sprayer and orange dream drinks, also wonderful. The beet special was wonderful, but not as a cedar forward as we expected and a little sharp. Not many child-friendly options for smaller plates (I know that they do not necessarily go for this amount, but my children are not super picky and can usually find something somewhere.

Great frits and fantastic Cuban sandwich. Maybe the best pig I had on a Cuban. We've been to the Frites-Hack a few times, but that was the first time in the actual restaurant and it wasn't disappointed.
