As for the Udon noodle dish, it was served hot and was filled with bean sprouts and large pieces of onion, but it contained only three or four large slices of very thin and tough beef. The two pieces of chicken were tasty but had a slimy texture, making them inedible for me. There was only one prawn, and disappointingly, there was no duck or pork in the noodles. The sauce was just a watery soy sauce instead of the usual tasty sauce I would expect. Overall, I am very disappointed and will not be ordering from here again, as the quality has noticeably declined.

I am disappointed to report that on two separate occasions, my orders were incorrect. The last time, we received chicken chow mein instead of mixed vegetable chow mein, and our household does not eat meat! In today’s order, I specifically requested Salt and Pepper King Prawns, for which I had already paid, but instead I received five tempura prawns, which are actually cheaper. After many years of dining here, it’s clear that something has gone wrong in the last few months. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning, as even the simplest orders can’t be fulfilled correctly. It’s such a shame because the food is genuinely good.

The food arrived an hour late, so I called to check on the status and was told it was just coming out of the kitchen. After another 20 minutes, I called again and was informed that it was still being cooked. The woman on the phone was rude and unhelpful. Ultimately, the food showed up two hours after I placed the order—it was cold and my dietary requests were ignored. I highly recommend avoiding this restaurant!

We 're rather mystified by the poor reviews. This is our local Chinese takeaway and the quality, consistency and value have always, always been the same. The best Chow Mein I 've ever had. Sweet Sour impeccable. Friendly and always on time. They also serve food direct to your table in The Barking Cat pub next door; Canton Chips go especially well with a pint.
