Spice Merchant - Plymouth

The service at this restaurant was good, with friendly staff. The atmosphere is more of a take-away style, but everything was fine. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I have to admit I'm not an expert in Indian cuisine, but all three of our dishes tasted very similar. The Chicken Korma, Chicken Mougol, and Chicken Tikka Masala (which were different colors) all tasted like a sweet, coconutty Korma. I was disappointed and would appreciate if someone could explain the differences in ingredients used in these dishes.

I think it depends on what chef is cooking, sometimes great other times sheer **** no longer eat hear because at the price of food today you don't want to be disappointed. Was loyal for a long time but do not like inconsistent taste, one dish I love is patia, should be spicy and sweat and sour, to taste all the flavours. But on more occasions lately its either bland, or just hot, and not tastey.

Excellent delivery and quality of food. I had a visitor who said it's the best takeaway curry he's ever had!

Bought a vindaloo nowhere near enough spice in it more like a chicken and tomato soup
