My partner and I were recently down south and spent a night in Pemberton on our way further afield. For a treat, we booked dinner at the Karri Valley Resort Lakeside Restaurant. While the view as the sun went down was spectacular, the rest of the evening was a tremendous disappointment. It fell far short of a treat.Not only was the place terribly dated (hello 1980s tacky decore) and the bathrooms filthy dirty, the service was particularly lack lustre, as was the food. The chap who was managing the floor seemed more preoccupied with flirting with his staff than serving customers, and when it came to paying the bill, he'd obviously popped outside for a cigarette immediately prior and stank of cigarettes - not professional. In addition he overcharged us and, by that stage, I couldn't be bothered arguing the point. The young female wait staff, were however trying hard, in their own gentle way.I had the Barramundi. The fish was perfectly cooked, but bland, and not seasoned. It came on a bed of rice, which seemed to be saffron infused. There were a few token vegetables around the side and drizzling of butter and oil. The central problem with the dish was that there was no coherence between the fish, the inordinately bland rice and the vegetables. By any standards, it was decidedly below par. My partner also had the Barramund. His remarks - "I'm eating it because I'm hungry". Note - not because it was any good.There's a distinct lack of high end places to eat in the area and Karri Valley markets itself as top notch. The disparity between the marketing and the execution was wide.
It is a lovely place to have lunch with a good menu and a most attractive indoor / outdoor dining in beautiful garden surrounds.
Love the butter croissant, chocolate croissant, apple pie, and all pastries selection. Absolutely delicious!
This venue overlooks Lake Beedelup and they light up forest across the Lake at night. If you are lucky you can see the trout swimming around at night...The menu is focused on local produce and the quality is consistently good. During winter they need to have the fire "roaring" as the room can be cold. Their home made ice cream is absolutely divine
