Sophie's Café - Paradise Valley

By chance, we decided to dine at Sofie’s Café, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. We all ordered the Quiche Lorraine and a goat cheese quiche. The crust was wonderfully flaky and flavorful, perfectly complementing the quiche filling. The salad that accompanied the quiche was incredible, and the dressing was simply delicious. My friend claimed the coffee was the best she had ever tasted. I will definitely return next time to try the crepes!

Warning: OWNER IS RACIST! Sophie’s Cafe is not a welcoming place. I arrived with a party of five (all Black and Brown women from out of state). There were several available tables outside, some seating up to four and others accommodating two to three people. As soon as we approached the establishment, Sophie looked at us and said, "No, I don’t serve parties of five." We suggested splitting up to fit the available seating, but Sophie’s response was extremely dismissive and rude. She simply said, "No, I don’t do that. Bye." It’s clear to me that my group experienced racial profiling and was denied service solely because of our skin color. She didn’t offer any professional explanation for her refusal to serve us. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Tourists should avoid this establishment if they want to leave Scottsdale with a positive experience. Scottsdale is a beautiful and wonderful place with friendly people, but unfortunately, we encountered one of the bad apples.

The food here is fantastic, offering traditional French cuisine. I've visited several times and enjoyed everything from the crepes to the omelettes and croissants. Sophie, the owner, is absolutely charming and embodies French culture in her demeanor—always calm and pleasant. As someone who has traveled to France and is familiar with its culinary delights, I highly recommend this restaurant. And be sure to try the coffee; it’s not to be missed!

While on a girls trip from out of state, my four friends and I decided to try Sophie?s Cafe on Mother?s Day since everything else was booked and we needed a place to eat before heading back to the airport. The outside looked cute and thought it be agreat experience. We were greeted by Sophie (we later discovered the owner) and we asked for a table of 5 and was told shedoesn?t do that as she is walking away from us. We questioned what she didn?t do and then asked if we can do spilt tables (puttwo at one and three at one) and she stated she doesn?t do that. It became CLEAR that our skin color played a factor in beingserved. Sophie walked away and went inside, we stood lost and confused on why we seen so many empty seats but couldn?t besevered at all. We go inside to ask to speak to the manager and was told that Sophie owned the spot. The whole time we remainpolite and informed her that it wasn?t good customer services and she didn?t care to hear and listen to us discuss how she justlost business. I?ve had an amazing time in AZ and it?s sad my trip ended at her cafe getting rude service and never being servedor seated. I wouldn?t recommend anyone coming here! Worst experience I?ve ever had. I?m glad it was at the end of my trip andnot beginning because I was truly falling for AZ. I won?t let one bad apple (HER) ruin what I think of AZ. I don?t know how aplace like hers is still standing. I wouldn?t recommend anyone giving their money to her cafe.

We are visiting Scottsdale and wanted to try Sophie?s cafe as my daughter loves crepes. We walked up and saw an open table outside. As my daughter went to sit down an employee (assuming Sophie) came out and yelled at us. She said she was saving thetable for a couple inside who had been waiting. Other diners stared as she was very rude. We said okay so we need to be seatedrather than seat ourselves. She replied yes. So we went inside and stood there for 5+ minutes while we were ignored. Finally weleft. Not a friendly place!
