One of my favorite resorts in phx, the jade bar is perfect, rooms are spacious, elements is outstanding, the grounds are immaculate. Hits on all cylinders.
I have been going here for many years and it is a shame to watch it change for the worse. The menu at Jade Bar, Elements and the pool have been overhauled with very little thought it seems. $10 basic hot dog at the pool? Hummus plate that had only enough pita bread to soak up 1/4 of the hummus, and when I asked for more bread it was given to me after 20 minutes and I was charged $6 for it, without them explaining that to me. I used to really love the food at the pool but now that Mediterranean thing they are doing is odd. The $21 burger doesn't come with fries and if you want fries they only offer $18 truffle fries. Service at the pool was mediocre. At Jade bar it seems prices have gone up and portions have gone down. The $25 burger was a tiny little burnt patty, not a smash burger, and the portion of fries was half what it used to be. Tried to order the oysters Rockefeller but they took that off the menu and all they had was oysters on the half shell and they were the tiniest, weirdest oysters I have ever had. $30 for those. They had no choices like Lobster or Short Rib that they were famous for. We got a NY Strip for $60 that was ordered rare but came out medium. Was full of gristle and tasted really bad. It has no side either. $60 for a NY Strip is quite high especially when it's barely edible. All in all IF I ever was to stay at the Sanctuary again I definitely would go elsewhere for food, which is a shame because the entire resort used to be magical before it was bought buy Gurneys. With all the competition that has popped up around the area like Global Ambassador, Caesars Republic and many more, the Sanctuary is going backwards with these ridiculous changed. How about leaving the food program how it was and actually spending some money on cleaning up the the facilities and upgrading things that need it. Bye bye Sanctuary, it was fun while it lasted.
I was in Scottsdale for a bachelorette trip. We booked our spa treatments months in advance. There was a policy change that resulted in us going back and forth with the spa for hours via email and phone leading up to the services. Fast forward a week later, I am looking at my credit card statement and I got charged multiple times. Apparently there was a misunderstanding with someone else and they did not check out appropriately for their service. Sanctuary Spa took it upon themselves to charge my credit card without authorization or any type of notice for this person's service. Although I fully believe they deserve their money, going about it this way is horrific and quite frankly, FRAUD. Amongst 8 other credit cards that were charged, how did you pick mine? After contacting the organizer of the party multiple times by email and phone, and having every individual patron fill out a questionnaire that asks for you phone number and email, why was no one notified of the issue so we could fix it properly? Instead, you charged me for services I didn't receive and expect me to contact someone I just met to get my money back. When I asked the manager Julia why she charged my card specifically and not the organizer of the group, or why she didn't reach out to anyone to resolve the issue, she said she didn't know. What logic was used here?
Wonderful spa with a beautiful pool to lounge by all day. We did not stay at the hotel, but attended for spa treatments and to use the pool for the day, and then went to the on site restaurant for dinner. Great experience! Quite expensive, but worth it for a great relaxing day with friends.
