Our table was on the second floor, and while it was nice, I couldn't help but feel like the first floor had a better vibe going on. As for the food, it was good, but not exactly mind blowing. I mean, it was tasty and all, but I didn't leave feeling like I had just discovered some new flavor sensation. That being said, there were plenty of options on the menu to choose from, so everyone in our group found something they like. The real highlight of the night, though, was the service. Our server was awesome super friendly and professional. They knew their stuff and made some good recommendations based on what we were in the mood for. Also, parking is easy in Palo Alto downtown. You can find many free parking spots. All in all, I'd say it's definitely worth checking out this restaurant if you're looking for a solid dining experience with good service. While the food might not be the main attraction, you won't be disappointed with the overall experience.
Overpriced attempt at elevating Mexican food. Flavor profiles are interesting, but the execution is heavy handed with over seasoning, unexpected for this price level starting with the $15 guacamole dip, and ending with the $45 hanagar steak and mashed potatoes. There was a lot of salt used in everything, even the ceviche. And this is coming from someone who loves salty foods. Good for business dinners where you're not paying personally, but otherwise, just another Palo Alto restaurant where you're paying more for the decor and the upscale atmosphere. And despite the high end decor and menu, the place is large and loud. The atmosphere is boisterous, like a sports bar at happy hour.
We had our Friday night dinner here. Made reservation before hand and didn’t have to wait. We ordered Chile Pablano- vegetarian dish, made with some kind of chilli filled with black beans, red sauce , rice and salad. This dish had the perfect balance of flavours and was amazing. Also, ordered corn cob from sides section which was also bursting with flavours. The salmon was amazing with the sauce and the full black beans. Would have preferred some rice with the salmon though. The desert warm banana cake with caramel ice cream was very comforting and delish.
The portions are so small compared to the price. We (2 people) ordered an appetizer and a main course (we usually do) and literally we were not feeling even a little bit full. By the way the appetizer (some kind of turnover with shrimp) was really good. I didn’t like our main course because it had a specific kind of spice in it which was not my favorite. They even don’t have tortillas for free for each table (which a lot of Mexican restaurants do) As we calculated They collect nearly 11.5% tax that is too much as well. Im not sure if I will come back again!
The food was extremely small proportions for the price it was not worth it the only good thing was the empanadas. Everything was extremely spicy as though they were trying to hide that the food left flavor. The presentation was beautiful but the food was pretty much just that beautiful. The server what is easily distracted and forgot to put our order in. Didn’t wait until I was finished ordering and walked away never checked on us other people came and he came back with the bill and that was it. I have no desire to eat here ever again. Not to mention the price for something that didn’t even fill us up.
