We frequent Tamaya on a monthly basis. Whenever we dine the food is always consistent and the same as we have had previously. Good kitchen :) staff are friendly. The restaurant is clean and has a Japanese feel to it.

Was at Movie World and decided to call this restaurant on whether there is sufficient seating for 5 of us (3 adults 2 kids) and was glad to know that restaurant was not crowded then (was about 4.45pm). We headed there to find a pleasantly small but cosy eatery.Food is definitely authentic Japanese and really the best Japanese good I have eaten in my few trips to different parts of Australia till date. The Hubby ordered the Tonkatsu ramen which was so mouth watering. Hubby ordered the spicy Tori Karaage to go with his ramen too and was equally awesome.I ordered the Unagi set and the Unagi was so big and tasty! I did not touch the Cha Soba and Tofu which came with the set as I was too full but the Grandma tried it and mentioned it was authentic and yummy. We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Don for my 5 year old son and lo and behold, he finished the whole bowl (to my utmost surprise as he is a very fussy eater). Hubby tried a piece of the teriyaki chicken and was raving about it too.All in all, we had a great dining experience. And we will be back very soon during our stay in Gold Coast!

Have been here about ten times and each time the food is just brilliant. It's extremely busy during the day and at night they close quite early, so be sure to check the closing times. The food is authentic and simply sensational to eat. We've had the sushi, the sashimi, the chicken and the miso soup, all of which is as good as we've eaten anywhere in the world!

The service at this restaurant was terrible. I attempted to bring my wife here to eat, but despite arriving early each time, they gave the next available table to the people behind us. It was obvious that the people behind us did not have a reservation (as they set up tables outside shortly after arriving) and were on friendly terms with the staff (they chatted while we waited). I found the entire experience extremely rude and we left shortly after. We will not be returning and feel it is important to warn others about the negative experience we had.
