SARI SALO -Crispy Pork Binagoongan and Angus Beef Sisig -my biased self was inclined to attack the sisig first and that was case ???? and this received praises. still remained crunchy even if it took a while to get served. the binagoongan was a tad sweet for such a savory viand, maybe due to the shrimp paste that was used. wouldve preferred slivers of green chillies instead of leeks just to push that sweetness to a bolder flavor.
Tried the crispy binagoongan. The serving is really generous and the taste is good. The stall is designed like a sari sari store, really cute! ???????? The Corner Market is an upgrade from the usual food court. I had a difficult time deciding what to eat, I wanted to try everything! Every stall had a different cuisine. They even had paluto stalls (saw one for meat, another for seafood). The design of the place is very inviting bright and fun ????
One of the newly opened stalls at The Podium’s Corner Market Food Hall during a food tasting event was Sari Salo. This eatery’s unusual name stems from two Filipino terms consisting of repeating syllables (another Pinoy quirk, hehehe! : sari-sari and salu-salo. Sari-sari refers to “variety and sundry.” Hence, the ubiquitous neighborhood mom-and-pop stores present and vital in many Filipino neighborhoods are called sari-sari stores. These stores connote affordability, being the go-to places of families within the neighborhood for tingi-tingi (unit purchases of basic food items and home necessities. It is also a place where people (stereotypically the chismosos or the busybodies come together and hangout to talk about neighborhood life.
Sari Salo now offers Angus Beef Sisig and Crispy Pork Binagoongan in their new menu lineup, and we foodies got to try it out in the new menu launch of the Corner Market Food Hall! Their take on the Sisig is different with the use of high quality meats, but it retains elements that every good Sisig has: crunchy bites, chili peppers for spiciness and onions as aromatics. The Pork Binagoongan, on the other hand, features a crispy skin contrasted with tender bites of meat, and a flavorful sauce with strong notes of bagoong and a mild spiciness. Enjoy it with fluffy white rice to temper the wild flavors that these two dishes have to offer. Disclaimer: portions are much bigger than this. The photo here is just their tasting portion.
[2018-12-04] After a meal in Tagaytay and some coffee/chocolate drinks (plus some ‘funny adventures’ at Megamall, we proceeded to ‘The Corner Market’, the new food hall at the Podium. One among the 3 stalls participating in the event is one serving Filipino food named ‘Sari-Salo’.
