Unfortunately was totally underwhelmed for our anniversary lunch. Took the day off together, arranged childcare for our baby girl, and planned a nice day trip to the mountains to celebrate. We informed the dining room upon reservation that this was for our anniversary - not to sound petulant but it's a big deal to us to make time away from our baby to drive 1.5hrs out of town to celebrate. I asked to confirm that we could have a nice view given that for us these days, something like this is an exception and a treat. I was told "we'll be able to do something nice for you". We got there and had an interior table adjacent to the entry wall and a couple of ladies who, while pleasant enough, were having a loud business conversation - and with no view. I asked our waitress if it would be possible to be moved and she said no as all of the other tables were reserved for tours. To be frank I would have rather just been told it wouldn't be possible at the point of reservation, and we would've gone to Banff or Canmore and saved ourselves the extra drive. Other issues were minor on their own but cumulatively, with the above, lead to an overall bomb of an anniversary lunch (save for the good company of my husband). - Had to request lemon for water twice - Avocado in the club sandwich wasn't ripe and was still fibrous- Appetizer was ordered to come out with entrees and then a rush had to be put on it (I am a nursing mom and was starving, I did tell the server this when we got there) - No accommodations for dietary constraint. I can't have cow dairy due to sensitivity in our infant daughter (I'm nursing) and while we've typically found restaurants to be accommodating to this, whether coming up with suggestions or modifying menu items slightly, there was little here, specifically with the poor dessert selection (fruit or sorbet is kind of a lame duck I can tell you). I can give an example here as the chef at Vin Room in Aspen, for example, has been amazing at whipping up nice little treats like a "deconstructed apple cobbler" (the apple filling sans pastry) by her own volition. We've experienced the same at other restaurants and always without there even being a special occasion, so it's a little sad that The Post, for all its acclaim, either lacked the bother or the creativity to come up with something. - A somewhat disgruntled "see ya" muttered at end of meal presumably based on the 18%. Sorry, but in our opinion giving the circumstances 18% was fair. Overall I'm sad to say The Post was a let down and a waste of rare day out together. We will stick with the Banff Springs and other venues who have always gone above and beyond to make the whole experience a 10/10.
Our group of 11 family members, including 5 under the age of 13, dined at this elegant restaurant for our 50th wedding anniversary. We were staying at the Post and were very pleased with the service and the food at this lovely restaurant. Candles and flowers were on the table when we arrived. Our waiter was most attentive and made sure that the kids were served early. Could not have been more pleased!
Excellent food, had a great meal of fish, very well cooked and portion was sufficient. Image of restaurant comes across as formal, and pricing is high. Though good price/quality raio.
We were in Lake Louise for my 30th Birthday and my partner chose The Post for my birthday dinner. The Post is a beautiful hotel and the restaurant is very classy with charming decor and a great atmosphere. We had a beautiful table by the window with a candle on it. The service was attentive and professional without being disruptive. The dinner was very slow moving - which we liked, we didn't feel rushed and enjoyed time between each course. The food we ordered was all delicious - notably the gnocchi, lamb, and steak - the mashed potatoes that came with the steak were to-die-for. If I have one teeny-tiny critique it would be that we ordered the steak medium-rare and it was a touch closer to rare, however it was still absolutely delicious. The bread and starter salads we ordered were all perfection. All-in-all The Post is a wonderful dining experience and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Louise
