Food is amazing and has been since the Civic center days. This location is far more casual than than the previous but that doesn't matter. Centrally located and food is always stellar!

Wow! Multi course vegan dinner!!! Food was exceptional and the service was very good. And albarino on tap what a bonus!

Extremely good food have not had to get a luck with service over the years seems to be a little uptight with the people. The owner is not too friendly. She has kind of pushed me away of trying to have another small gathering or event here, but the food is excellent.

Long-standing exclusively vegan restaurant in Oakland. Have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally went with a vegan friend. I'll start by saying that I am not vegan though I definitely appreciate well-made vegan food as it can help me cut down on my meat consumption. We ordered the Millenium Burger, Cornmeal Crusted Cauliflower Steak, Heirloom Tomato Salad, Oyster Mushrooms, Farfalle alla Vodka, and Roasted Sweet Corn Riblets. We also ordered the creme de violette cake for dessert. My favorites from our order: king oyster mushrooms and the creme de violette cake. I also really liked the dip that came with the focaccia. I was especially impressed with the cake because it was super moist and flavorful. Was not particularly impressed with the pasta (I think vegan cheese is just not quite there yet), it felt very dry and not properly sauced. Also was not impressed with the burger (def have had other vegan burgers I prefer, such as burger. in santa cruz). Texture was pretty mushy throughout and the flavor was just alright. Everything else was just okay and not particularly memorable. I will also note that the food is obviously made with high quality ingredients and the portions are small. You are paying a premium for the ingredients, the menu ingenuity, and the quality service. The plating is also beautiful! There is also outdoor seating if you want to bring your (well behaved) pooch along!

I'm not a vegetarian but joined a bunch of friends who are for dinner.I'm not sure what all I was eating but what stood out was the very tasty sauces and the different textures.It was all quite yummy and I didn't miss meat at all.They have some lovely desserts.Sorry I didn't take pictures of whatever it was eating..See what you think!
