We started with a selection of tapas and then enjoyed a variety of dishes including lobster, burgers, and burritos. Everything was really tasty with generous portions and great service. I would highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again soon.
We were extremely fortunate to secure the last table for three people, and we were absolutely delighted that we did! We all agreed to forego starters and dive right into the main courses (with our eyes set on the delectable desserts!). Two of us ordered the roast pork, while I opted for the beef (which is typically served pink, but can be prepared more well done upon request – I prefer it pink!). We also decided to splurge on the mashed potatoes with truffle, for an additional cost, which sounded delicious. The food arrived promptly despite the packed restaurant, and we were presented with plates overflowing with meat, generous homemade Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, and vegetables. We also received a side of vegetables and a board of extra gravy. Additional sauces like horseradish were available too. We eagerly dug in and quickly realized that there was no way we could even think about dessert – the food was just too delicious to leave a bite behind! The vegetables were cooked to perfection (I can't stand overcooked, mushy vegetables), and the meat was cooked just right. It was truly the best roast dinner we had in a long time.
Visited The Plough today for Mother's Day and had the most amazing Sunday lunch! The portion size was generous, the meat was cooked perfectly, and there was even extra gravy, which I loved. We left with four empty plates and four satisfied tummies. I highly recommend this place.
I just firstly want to say thank you to the owner for being so lovely to my dog. My dog is very timid and hid under a seat in the bay window . This was fine all the time I was eating but slightly less so when I’m lying on the floor trying to coax her out. The lovely lady who runs this pub came out with some tasty morsels to help the situation. On to the review, I ended up coming on my own as my partner was ill. I’m a bit anxious at the best of times but want to give my dog some good experiences in dog friendly places. I have never been in here before but walked in and felt quite comfortable . The pub has a proper bar, friendly locals , and I was given a table by the bar with an offer to move f it was too cold. I ordered a coffee which was lovely and hot and quickly delivered. A twinkly happy eyed waiter took my order. Then I enjoyed people watching and reading for a bit. My meal was promptly delivered, it was hot , delicious and just what you want in a Sunday dinner. The yorkshires were big and fluffy and the roasties crispy and fluffy on the inside. The vegetables were delicious and fresh, I particularly liked the roast carrot and cabbage, all with tasty meaty gravy and a jug on the side. I had a nice chat with a gentleman while I waited for my food, and the people on the next table were very sweet helping herd my dog out. All in all, this is completely my kind of pub. It has a lovely community feel to it. I loved the bar, the people, the food and the service. I will definitely be back with my partner and a walk by the river afterwards. If you are reading this review unsure whether to go, I think if you try it , I can’t see anything not like. Cheers!
After a pleasant walk from Morpeth we decided to try the Plough for lunch. We sat at a table for 2 and I ordered some drinks while we browsed the menu. I had a pint of well kept real ale and my wife a glass of Shiraz. The landlord was very friendly and attentive as was his partner. We both ordered the lamb and when the landlord brought the cutlery he suggested we might wish to move to a bigger table if we wanted to spread out which was a nice gesture. The lamb was perfectly cooked for my liking (very slightly pink but melted in the mouth). They had rice pudding on the dessert menu and as it is my favourite dessert I had to try it. And it was delicious. I have never had rice pudding topped with melted chocolate (usually a fruit jam) but I would recommend it. We will definitely be back to sample other things on the menu.
