Doiron Fisheries - North Rustico

The real deal, located right in the harbor and they have a nice selection of local seafoods. No frills and don't expect a great deal of conversation, as they have been busy all 3 times I stopped by and everyone wanted to get in and out and enjoy their fresh seafood. We have enjoyed their scallops, clams, cod, and shrimp and may go back one more time before we depart PEI.

There may be places with larger selections or more pretentious presentation, but in this part of the world, where the fishing boats pull up to the dock behind the store, there is no better place to get fish or shellfish. Their lobsters are fresh and lively, the people are nice, and when you shop here you 're keeping the money as local as possible. Skip the overpriced Lobster Suppers that dot the landscape, and get a couple of lobsters from Doiron 's. If you don 't have a kitchen where you 're staying, get a cooked lobster and have a picnic. In any case, when you 're this close to the ocean and the fishermen who work it, there 's no reason not to enjoy the bounty and do business with good people.

I'm a tourist. I'm not embarrassed by that term. In exchange for me coming to your part of the world, I spend money, which is sometimes the cornerstone of the economy or of a business. I give you money, you give me service. The counter folks at Doiron don't care about service. I thought it was bad luck when the first person was really surly and unhelpful. I was just asking for some advice on what to buy. But I came back a few hours later to spend money and her colleague was almost as unpleasant. Customer service is not for everyone. It requires putting on an act for some people. If you can't fake it, there are other jobs. The lobster was fine.

Bought 3lbs mussels and 2lbs clams perfect dinner for 5 people. steamed in a pot took about 15 minutes very fresh, clean, excellent! I enjoyed the no nonsense, fast service. I will definitely be back.

Absolute must if you have cooking facilities! Friendly service, amazing fish and shellfish. Very fairly priced. We tried the fresh mackerel , hake, halibut, haddock, cod. Divine. We also got some smoked salmon for a delicious breakfast. Cooked lobster was delicious as well. Each day is a little different based on their catch. A must if you are staying in the area and love seafood. Food market and bakery within a 2 minute walk from the market so you are all set.
