Cookie-cutter dishes available in plenty here. The food is decent, and priced pretty well for what it is. It'll only ever be a lunch spot for me, and kind of a last resort at that. There are so many other authentic Asian restaurants very nearby that are better.
This place was good. They prices were reasonable, the service was reasonable and the food was reasonable tasting, for the most part. It was pretty average to me. Nothing really seemed to stand out, except for the rice. They really did a good job cooking and seasoning their rice. So, because the rice was very above average, and everything else was just average, I will give this place 4 stars instead of 3 stars.
My 3 favorites: Sesame Chicken, Combination Fried Rice and Egg Rolls! This place has never let me down. I even tried China Wok since it's closer to my home, that was a mistake! I always get my food to go. And they deliver! I usually get four meals out of one order so the portions are huge. The prices are also fair. I'm not a fan of Chinese food. Golden Wok tastes more American than anything, I love it. My chicken tastes like chicken. The flavors are not overwhelming. A lot of people complain about the service. They are always nice and prompt when I get my order to go. They even give kids fish food to feed the Coy fish outside.
The only thing I've had here is dimsum on the weekends. My first time was several years ago and I remember thinking it was decent but far. The 3 recent times I've been I have consistently regretted my decision to do so every time. Like I said, decent dimsum, but since it's not what the restaurant focuses on, the service ends up lacking. Servers are usually not very attentive or forget things you ask for. Also, it would help if they trained them more about the dimsum items. It's noticeable that most of the wait staff don't know much about what they are serving. If you insist on going for dimsum, make sure you just order with your waiter straight from the kitchen instead of getting anything from the carts. Everytime I have gotten something from the carts, they have been cold and/or overcooked. The two standout dimsum dishes that are better than Shanghai and T&S for me were the shrimp stuffed tofu (huge pieces of soft tofu) and the pork&shrimp fried turnovers.
