Contribuiți la feedbackBest service best food best breakfast on the North Shore and no one knows about it! Total hidden gem. It's rustic but the family and food are 5 star
We came for brunch and got in around 1:50pm and it was close to them closing for lunch (they close at 2:30pm with last call at 2pm). They checked with the kitchen and was ok to take us, thankfully. Granted, they had a lot of tables still working on their food. I liked the food. The braised short rib in the Black Bar and the short rib in the sandwich tasted the same. I like the robust seasoning but hubby found it on the smokey side. The kids loved their Full French dish. I wouldn't go out of my way just to come here as they serve similar fare as some other restaurants, but if I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll come back. Parking at the back was a bit confusing since they only have about 2 spots. But they said since it's the weekend, the unit next door was closed so we could use their parking.
I came here for brunch on a rainy day. There's parking right outside...convenient. The restaurant is smaller than I thought and has cozy vibes which I liked. The people working there (owner maybe? was really warm and friendly. I was super excited to try the duck confit skillet and it was good! It was a lot of food for me though, I couldn't finish it. Then we were craving something sweet so we ordered something chocolatey, like a torte, which was really rich and just didn't hit the spot. Can't remember what exactly.
It has been a long time since I was wowed by a dish. This place did not disappoint and totally deserved the stars given. I have heard and read about this place and covid hit before I could try it. It was take out mostly then. We decided to try it over the weekend and were lucky to get a table as the place was tiny. There was a line waiting outside when we left. The menu is not extensive which is a good thing. It makes ordering easier. We decided on the cassoulet and my friend was also blown away by the dish. Served in a cast iron pan, it was filled with eggs, beans, meat, potatoes and toast. Forget about this dish if you were on a diet as it was full of flavor and good fats. The eggs were perfectly poached with soft yolks which ran slightly. The lardon bacon was fattier than regular bacon. The weisswurst sausage was flavorful and soft. Potatoes were nicely crisped around the edges with steamy soft flesh. Then the star of the dish pork rillette. So rich and so good when eaten with the toast. I always love duck rillette and this pork version was equally yummy. The navy beans just completed completed the dish, making it an hearty meal. I would need to come back to try the duck confit and short rib sandwich. Lovely service staff and the place is non fancy. A nice casual small place for good French food. Limited parking at rear, find side street parking instead.
I hadn't been here for a couple of years. We came here for lunch and found the food to be the same simply tasty and fresh! We both ordered the avocado and focaccia. The bread was crispy topped with 2 sunny side eggs. You have a choice of bacon or sausage. We felt safe as we were seated a good distance from other tables. They do a great job keeping the place clean. Next time we hope to visit for dinner. It's good to know they have prepared food for takeout. Parking is a bit of a challenge but it's worth it considering you're getting quality food. There are side streets nearby.
