La Piccada - Nice

Very good, good welcome, fast service, no fuss, good pizza.

Meals with friends, more than average wood-fired pizzas, decent in appearance, canned sauce directly on the pizza. Too bad no preparation, no flavors, incipid.

A surprisingly good pizzeria in a traditional atmosphere. The pizzas are fantastic and come fresh from the stone oven. They are so big that two people can get enough of them we would love to come back!!

We arrived at nearly ten past seven and were greeted coolly with "we start at seven". I was still preparing a riposte when we were seated in slightly careworn surroundings and the lights were turned on. The specials boards looked as though they might have written themselves. Service remained a little dour but had warmed a bit by the time we left and the evening service was well under way. Like so many restaurants east of the Goodwin Sands, regardless of appearances, the food was good and reasonably priced as we were not in the heart of tourist Nice. The toilet was not marked.

We went to the restaurant for a pizza and a glas of wine. The food was fine but the waiter is not good at service. The price is not high and the value for money is good. But the owner should change the waiter or learn him to smile - he is there anyway!!
