Green Derby Kentucky Bistro - Newport

We were on the lookout for a local dining spot and happened upon the Green Derby. Our server, Skylar, was outstanding—quick, efficient, and very helpful. I was truly impressed by her knowledge of the menu and her ability to answer all my questions. We thoroughly enjoyed the frog legs and the mock turtle soup, which had a delightful old-school Kentucky charm. The roasted chicken was among the best I've ever tasted, with a generous portion and a wonderfully crispy crust! The cod melted in my mouth, complemented perfectly by the sauerkraut, and the baked potato was solid. The butter and sour cream were served in small cups, and the quality of the butter was exceptional. Our 14-year-old son declared, "Mom, this is the best fish I've ever had! I give this restaurant five stars!" We also enjoyed observing the locals, many of whom were celebrating the New Year with a special meal.

I visited The Green Derby after noticing a parking lot conveniently located right in front. I ordered a Fried Halibut Sandwich on Rye Bread to take out, and it was a real delight. It's rare to find restaurants that still serve Halibut like I used to enjoy as a child. It was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend it—definitely a five-star experience and then some!

We had a wonderful time celebrating the Dayton High School class of 1958-1959 reunion. The staff did an excellent job accommodating our group of 35. A big thank you to the Green Derby staff and the DHS class of '58/'59. The food and service were fantastic! I particularly enjoyed the Derby Salas deep roasted eggplant. I can't wait to dine at the Green Derby again. Best, Bald.

Been to Green Derby never disappointed several times. Prime Rib, salmon, groupers starters were all good!

The food was great we all loved what we had every one said how great the food was. We will return from across the river and eat there again. The only thing is on line it said you are open until 1:00 am and when we left we saw on the door you close at 10:00 pm you might want to take care of that. Great food and nice atmosphere...
