An amazing hidden treasure. I've been going there for over 20 years. Even with all the success thru the years, it is still the same friendly feel that it has always been.

I feel misled by either the misleading information on their official website or the male staff at the front door. Before my visit, I checked the latest, specific details on their website, which clearly stated a $10 admission fee with a student ID. However, the staff member at the door insisted that the student discount was no longer available and demanded the full general admission price. As soon as he took my money, he quickly put it into his wallet. I feel cheated and will not return again.

I had heard about the renowned Nuyorican Poets Cafe for years and had always wanted to visit. So, when I went to Manhattan for the first time, I made it a priority to stop by. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The event was scheduled to begin at 10 PM, but the doors didn’t open until around 10:12 PM. We had purchased our tickets online earlier that day, but after standing outside in the cold, we found ourselves without seats. Many attendees ended up standing, which left me wondering about the venue's capacity and why we had paid for admission but didn’t have seats. Despite that, I was still a bit excited, though it turned out to be a night where one of the hosts was practicing his guitar lessons, and the lineup of poets felt disorganized. I’ll attribute it to just bad timing. Perhaps I’ll give it another shot on my next visit to the city.
