Contribuiți la feedbackAs for the atmosphere, this particular location is in a basement food court. The keyword here is "basement"! While the Plaza Food Hall has an interesting architectural style and offers a variety of sit-down and counter-service restaurants, it's quite stuffy down there. The air circulation is almost nonexistent—seriously. Maybe it was due to my visit occurring during the transition from winter to spring, but the environment was uncomfortable, hot, and unwelcoming. There are plenty of tourists around, so comfort should really be a priority.
I picked up the broccoli classic sandwich on my way to Central Park. The food hall was a bit tricky to locate; it's situated in the basement of the Plaza Hotel, just across the street from Central Park. However, the entrance doesn’t actually say Plaza Food Hall. Instead, look for the Todd English Food Hall signs. The bread was just okay; it might have been better if it had been toasted (which I declined since I wasn’t planning to eat it right away). As it was, it wasn’t super soft or light and crispy—more like a middle ground. The filling was quite unique; I never imagined trying a sandwich with broccoli in it. The sauce was a bit too tangy for my taste, and I’m not a big fan of feta, so I wouldn’t crave this sandwich. Still, it was distinct, tasted decent, and was quite filling, especially for a vegetarian option. I suggest giving it a try—there are plenty of other sandwiches available if this one doesn’t appeal to you (it did make CNN's list of the top 9 NYC sandwiches to try a few years back). Even if sandwiches aren’t what you’re after, there are other food stalls nearby to explore too.
How delicious can a broccoli sandwich really be? This place surprised me and showed that broccoli can be so much more than I thought. The Broccoli Classic is a fantastic combination of roasted broccoli, lychee muchim, feta cheese, fried shallots, and mayo. It’s hearty and packed with flavor, with vibrant green broccoli that’s far from boring. Each bite offers delightful textures and tastes! They also have plenty of meat options. I've heard great things about their Queen of Jordan sandwich, which features ham, provolone, pickled blueberries, and BBQ chips for an added crunch. It might sound like an odd mix of flavors, but apparently it all comes together beautifully. After my first visit to their original Flatiron location, I was inspired to buy their cookbook, **A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches**, just to explore the other creative sandwich combinations they offer. However, with all the unique ingredients it calls for, I’ll leave the experimenting to the experts!
Ordered the special no 7 sub which was ham and turkey with jalapeños and chips inside! Came to $11.50 and came on fresh Italian bread. Service was very fast and got my sub I 'm less than a minute. Overall sub was good and price was in line with other lunch spots in the area. Meat tasted fresh although the sandwich itself tasted a little dry. Next time id def ask for extra jalapeños and more sauce which could potentially bring this to a 4.5 ..probably still not a 5. Would I return? Yes!!
Sandwich was alright but nothing special. I had the spicy crispy chicken one with avocado. For a place in the Plaza food hall they should have better napkins than public bathroom paper towels it just doesn't look or feel right!
