Neil's Coffee Shop - New York City

**SERVICE:** The staff was great—very friendly and nice. **ATMOSPHERE:** It’s your typical breakfast diner, complete with a counter and some booth seating. The space isn’t too large, but it feels cozy and always seems busy, even during the middle of the day on a weekday. I really enjoy that bustling diner vibe. However, the counter seating wasn’t very comfortable because there was an awkward shelf underneath, making it hard to cross my legs or have enough legroom in general.

I visited this place with a friend and ordered smoothies. They were pretty average, leaning a bit towards the sweeter side. However, they still made for a nice option on a hot day.

A diner girl’s paradise! The staff is fantastic, and the seating is really comfortable. It’s a wonderful spot to settle in and get some writing done. Absolutely perfect!

I don 't give out many 1 star reviews but this place nailed every criteria for it. The place was busy when we came which is always a good sign but I left extremely disappointed. The Yelp reviews weren 't flattering so I probably should have listened to the Yelp Nation on this one. Where do we begin. First off the waiter didn 't seem to be listening to what I was ordering. I asked for my eggs cooked well without any runny yolk... that is pretty simple right? They come out over easy. He even takes them back because I guess he forgot and they STILL came back runny. I also ordered some avocado and there was an egg shell in them. Not good. Now you would think the eggs come with home fries like any normal diner. Nope. They came with frozen french fries that the waiter said were the best . no home fries??! They were terrible. We also got 2 cups of chicken noodle soup $4 each) which wasn 't bad. Also the check came with a whole bunch of numbers on them. I went to the counter and the lady couldn 't even figure it out. It ended up being $46 for 2 people for lunch? We didn 't get anything out of the ordinary but they probably tagged some more things on. Who knows and who cares... it was not a good experience. Very few 1 star reviews in my history but this is one of them.

2.8 Stumbled upon while in the area. Old fashion style diner with much needed improvements. I know the food was going to be quick average. On the table was an order of a chicken wrap served with french fries and an order of a western omelette served with home fries toast. Wrap dish was tasty but the french fries were the best, also was told the omelette was best. Had to finish off with espressos plain pound cake, delish! As others have mentioned, overpriced and all the hidden fees. On the menu it does specify $5.50 per person for card charge .25 .50 for take home containers and to mention there were a few flies buzzing around. What's with all the charges? Friendly and attentive staff. Food was made pretty quick for the amount of people at the time, early lunch hours on the weekend. Tight seating and place does get attention, staff not once make you feel rushed.
