Il Mattone - New York City

I've become a regular at this restaurant, and it's one of the few places I go for lunch. The food is great, consistently good, and the staff is impressive. What's not to love?

Fast service and a local favorite, this neighborhood pizza joint is a go-to spot, although seating is somewhat limited. It's perfect for a quick bite, and the pasta dishes are quite tasty as well. Their calzones are impressively large! A couple of years ago, the menu offered a wider variety of pasta options, but the impacts of COVID and the recession have altered that. Nonetheless, it's still an excellent place for pizza.

I'm not convinced by these reviews. If this is the best pizza New York City has to offer, it's quite a letdown. After trying pizza at various well-known places in several major cities, I would rank them as follows: 1st Place: Boston, 2nd Place: Chicago, 3rd Place: NYC, 4th Place: Los Angeles, and 5th Place: Miami. As for Il Mattone, it's just a counter-service pizza spot, and not much more than that. The pizza appeared to have been sitting out in the counter window for quite a while. While they do reheat it in their ovens, which is a plus, I can't say it was the most flavorful or the best pizza I've had. It's decent, but not something I'd be excited to recommend.

The chicken spinach lasagna is always very tasty. Great takeout dish for an easy dinner. Highly recommend it.
