Elsa La Reina Del Chicharron

Take the A Train to Elsa La Reina.Everytime i visit new york i make sure to make the trek up to Inwood to visit. Well worth the 40min to an hour from where i usually stay. Amazing food in an amazing neighborhood.

They have the best chicharrón.Batatas and empanadas . 10/10My favorite spot every time I go to W. Heights.

We had been visiting my mother in law in the Bronx for decades, hitting up the 188 Bakery Cuchifritos. Then someone mentioned Elsa's. Absolutely THE BEST Chichirrones I've ever tasted, in NYC or the Republica Dominicana. They always offer a sample. Melt in your mouth fat, just the right amount of meat and wonderfully crunchy skin. Wow! And all the standard sides. Don't get me wrong, 188 is great, it was good enough for Anthony Bourdain, but for Chicharrones, hit up the Queen. Get plenty cause they disappear quickly back at the apartment.

So, a friend bought me white rice, beans, baked chicken and sweet plantains (maduros and everything but the rice was AWFUL? The chicken was undercooked, the beans barely tasted like anything and the plantains were in a POOL OF OIL (I kid you not! I'm not trying to be mean, just honest. Maybe we were just unlucky because this place seems to be rated well but my experience was terrible. I will not recommend to a friend or eat from here again. Thank you.
