On the positive side, the venue is kept quite clean—cleaner than many restaurants I usually go to—and the portion sizes are reasonable considering the location. However, the food itself varies from mediocre to poor, with most items leaning towards the latter. If you find yourself here against your will and need to eat something, I would suggest the soup dumplings. That said, I wouldn't specifically recommend coming here just for them, as they're thick-skinned, contain very little soup, have a small meatball, and are served lukewarm. But if you do end up here, it's one of the better choices on the menu.
Finally, the original waiter returned to ask about our order again, saying that the kitchen must have overlooked it. When our BBQ Pork Spinach Ramen finally arrived, it was rather bland. I would certainly return for the food, but if excellent service is what you're after, this may not be the right place for you.
The food is excellent, and the service is fantastic. However, it gets extremely busy with takeout during Asian and lunar calendar holidays. If you're planning to order takeout on a holiday, make sure to place your order a day in advance, or you might not receive service, as the kitchen could be overwhelmed.
To start, we opted to share the radish cake with scallops. Grayson has been eager to take me out for dim sum for quite some time, so this was a nice compromise. If you enjoy dim sum for dinner, you'll be pleased to know they also serve crystal dumplings, siu mai, and a variety of deep-fried items. The radish cake was soft with a slightly crispy exterior. While I prefer it to be crispier for a better textural contrast, I still enjoyed it. It was rich in radish flavor, and adding a touch of chili oil on top enhanced its deliciousness.
Consistently excellent! This is one of my favorite lunch spots while working on Annacis Island. They serve delicious noodle soups and some dim sum, conveniently located next to the Starlight Casino and Kirin. My favorite dish is the BBQ pork in Japanese ramen with miso, and the duck is also very good. There’s plenty of parking, the place is clean, and there’s ample seating available. If you're dining alone, the large counter is perfect for a quick meal.
