I enjoyed how they kept the queso dip hot! Really enjoyed grilled chicken! Server was friendly
Burritos, tacos, burgers, seafood, and pork chops. All good food, but the food can be a little inconsistent based on locations.
I shouldn't have. Like many in the area, I grew up on Tumbleweed. As a young kid, I thought I was eating authentic Mexican food. : I have fond memories of meals at Tumbleweed over the years, especially from the Dutchmans Lane location, which is now a Wild Eggs. I don't eat at Tumbleweed very often anymore, but once a year or so, I like to come back. I found myself out at lunchtime alone the other day while running errands, and thought I'd get some chips/queso and white chili. I opted to sit in the bar area. I had a small queso for $4.99 that was very small. This is absolutely ridiculous considering places like El Nopal charge $3.00 for a bigger size of the white cheese dip, which is so much better. The salsa at Tumbleweed has a thicker texture than most, but the flavor isn't bad; it's also chunky. It may not be my favorite, but I like it once and a while. The queso is the yellow processed kind, but it's actually tasty, albeit overpriced. I had the avocado white chicken chili, which was pretty good. It comes in a tortilla shell with avocado on the bottom and is poured at the table. Alongside, is a piece of jalapeño cornbread that's good and a tiny side of sour cream. The chili could've used a little more seasoning (cumin, in particular , but it wasn't bad. I wished there had been more avocado and a bigger side of sour cream. The side of sour cream was a joke. The service sufficed, but was not great. The food was okay. They are just not competitively priced to be such a run-of-the-mill kind of place. For a place like Tumbleweed to continue to survive, I think they need some menu and service improvements and they definitely need coupons, price reductions/bigger portions, and maybe some specials to remain competitive. I would've given three stars if they weren't overpriced for their portion size. I don't think I will be coming back here anytime soon.
I've placed a few to go orders from this location recently and the food has been delicious and correct each time! I only wish you knew ahead of time whether to go to the bar or the to go station to pick up, since that changes. But regardless of where you pick up, the service is always great!
