Federal Hotel - Mount Gambier

I would like to give five stars to this restaurant as the staff members work very hard, especially the young lady with the blue hair. The service was excellent. However, the food was not quite up to par. I have visited twice and will likely return, but the steak I ordered was slightly overcooked (medium instead of medium rare) and the salad was a bit wilted on both occasions. The prices are reasonable though. I believe this pub has the potential to be fantastic with a few adjustments. I would still be happy to return in the future.

Good pub meals. Catered to a wide variety of tastes. Food was good quality and very tasty. Good vegetarian options as well. The service was fantastic. Also very well priced with free soft drinks for the kids.

Whilst staying in Mt Gambier we were advised to have a steak at the Federal Hotel, so we did. By far the best steak I’ve ever had, it was cooked to perfection, the price was excellent, the service was outstanding, Dylan, our waiter was cheery, polite and very helpful and he made our visit pleasurable. Top marks to the Fed

We went here for dinner, the service was excellent, food was delicious, I ordered the fish and chips (it comes with a choice of one or two pieces of fish) unless you are a big eater my advice would be to go one piece as they were large. MY only complaint was therfe was no dressing on the salad.

Family meal here. Schnitzel with topping, chicken burger and beef pie with mash. Also HD garlic bread starter. All were very good. Schnitzels were well cooked and not dry which is a lot more that other pubs do. Pies were good and the mash was great. Service a bit slow but they were very busy. Would go back
