El Sapo - Monte Verde

Everything was phenomenal! Server was celiac, so they really know what they’re doing here!

Delicious, great atmosphere, pretty view! It’s attached to a nice hotel. Server understood my dietary needs right away and they seemed very careful, even forgoing the pesto on my ‘cloud salad’ because their cashews had a “may contain traces of wheat” warning. Super yummy and I bet it would be a beautiful place at sunset!

This is one of many restaurants we’ve eaten at during our lengthy Costa Rica trip. Monteverde is really lacking in GF options, so this place was great to find. A good amount of options and the server was very knowledgeable. The food was quite good. It was the most expensive dinner we have had, and that’s saying a lot, so keep that in mind!

This is the restaurant inside the Senda hotel. We stayed here for 3 days since breakfast was included, we ate breakfast here every morning. Their menu is labeled with gf options they are extremely knowledgeable about cooking gf. Almost anything we wanted they could accommodate. For breakfast, we tried the egg gallos, empanadas, pancakes French toast. All of it was amazing! They even bring you a fresh fruit appetizer to start with. The appetizers also come with banana muffins, which we could not have but they do have gf bread, which can be used for French toast or regular toast. We ate dinner here one evening I had the pepper steak, which was great. They also made grilled chicken fingers French fries for my daughter, gf. We even had chocolate mousse for dessert. Wonderful hotel restaurant very accommodating for those traveling with food restrictions!
