Donnie's Coffee Shop - Monmouthshire

We left Newport heading home but needed a bite to eat. Stopped off at this lovely village and found this cafe. It's small friendly cafe that does great baguettes and cakes. Brought the cakes home for our daughter who thought they were wonderful. Definitely recommend

Second visit today Coffee an bacon baguette. Best bacon this side of Derby, lovely friendly atmosphere. A real treat

The website says they are open until 3pm. So we stopped in for lunch. Sorry we were told we stop serving food at 2pm. Nothing about that on their website. The time exactly 2pm A bit like Marie Antoinette we were told we could have cake. We didn't want cake. We wanted lunch. So we went to the Golden Lion opposite and had a superb lunch there.

Today, I visited Donnie's for the first time. It appeared to be a welcoming place with an option for outdoor seating for those willing to tolerate the cold. I had to wait outside the shop for about 10 minutes for my sandwich to be prepared, which felt like a lengthy time in the chilly weather. Unfortunately, upon arriving home, I discovered that I had been given the wrong order. As a result, most of my sandwich ended up being shared with the cats. I was quite disappointed by this experience and am hesitant to return, especially considering the fact that I paid £4 for a sandwich that I did not receive.

The staff is great, the food is great, and the atmosphere is great. I highly suggest stopping by, even if just for a bacon sandwich and a coffee.
