Z's Shakes Cakes - Merrillville

We stopped by here on the way to Chicago. This was a surprising little bakery which seems to be in the middle of nowhere. My sister and her friend ordered huge milkshakes which had a whole cupcake in them. They looked pretty good but one looked like enough for 2 people. My wife and I just got regular ice cream that was pretty good too. There's a good variety here of both ice cream and baked goods. We would definitely stop back here.

These shakes are 14 bucks but creatively delicious. We dreaded a long line but amazingly on this day there wasn't a wait. Definitely a hood gem. When you walk into this small establishment, you are greeted to the smell of fresh baked goodness. The place was clean and staff nice. I'm sure to visit again to try another flavor.

Don't let the outside discourage you! It's very clean, excellent quick service but that depends on what day you . Smells wonderful. A little bit pricey but worth it. The shakes starts at $14 up. Made fresh to order. Two people can eat one shake! The taffy grapes are $5

The strawberry shake I had was awesome! I was in town for West Side's Alumni Weekend and wanted to only eat local. I had a sweet tooth on my way back down I65 and decided to do a Google search for milkshakes. While it came up with a different name, I did some research and found out it was minority owned and had a great rating. A few of my friends liked the pafe on Facebook so I was sold. The displays in store are beautiful with inside was inviting like I had walked into Candyland. I saw a kid eating a massive creation and I knew I was in the right place. Service was great and the wait was short Along with my strawberry shake, I had a glazed donut. My friend bought a strawberry cupcake that was delicious. My shake was thick just how I like it. The only thing that would have made it better to me is big strawberry chunks (hint hint). I will definitely return next time I'm in the Region!
