Americansoul Kitchen - Meriden

Tonight I thought why not some American soul food . I called at 6:50 they close at 8pm from what the website says. I put my order in. I drove 40 minutes for my family’s dinner,Just for me to arrive and the girl in the front says that they didn’t get any calls on orders .They also refused to make us anything . Truly disappointed , I used to brag about this place , wont be recommending this place or eating here anymore . Service was a disgrace.

09/10/23 Wish I could give them a minus -5 stars for service a Minus -8 Stars for competence for that matter..This was a Uber order the Total was $100.02…The Order was made a few minutes after 6pm..We were Told our Food would be here between 7:30-7:45pm on the Uber site…Our Uber delivery person called us at 7:40pm claiming to be at the restaurant was told they couldn’t fulfill our order because they didn’t have anything we order? Which would’ve been fine if it wasn’t almost 2 hours since we made the original order..Then to add insult to injury, When we called the restaurant to find out what happened..instead of getting an “I’m so sorry for the inconvenience” we got welllll What do you want me to do?..we DON’T have No more Food!! Lol.. From the bobble head that answered the phone..Sounds Like this place is a Big joke masquerading as a restaurant.. (U close at 8pm, U get an $100 order at 6pm can’t figure out in under a hour that U don’t have enough food to fulfill said order? Clearly they employee Geniuses here!! this is why people “Usually Us” don’t choose small local eats anymore..Sorry to say but especially in Meriden..N-E-V-E-R Again!! Wish I would’ve read the reviews on this place 1st, we wouldn’t have even bothered ??‍

I’ll start off with the good.. I love the Mac and cheese a lot. It’s my favorite thing from there. I would like to say, before serving someone the Collard Greens , you should inform them that it’s seasoned with pork as we live in a world where a lot of people are NOT eating pork these days. The fish needs to be fried harder… it’s so soft that it melted in my mouth. I didn’t like that. Also… the sweet potato pie did NOT taste like sweet potato pie… it tasted like vanilla. Kind of like the other ingredients overpowered the sweet potato. If you want better fish, Go to Lilly’s Soul Food in Windsor. The fish is AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG. And their tarter is great too!

We stopped in after a visit in the area and we were told to expect to wait forever for service. We didn't have to wait ever, but service is something that could use some work. The food was fantastic and our waitress was just the sweetest person. We are going to go back a second time real

The food was not for me but, rather for two of my private patients who loves soul foodI ordered The Fish med. fries , Mac n Cheese, Ribs, P Salad. Mind you I 'd ordered basically the same dishes 2- 3wks BEFORE.When the Uber walked up to the door handed me a large brown bag, I smelled the strong pungent scent of the fish I had the distinctive feeling the fish was SPOILED not fresh . The delivery person said to me... My Car Reaps Of That Smell , and ma 'am do you have anything thing I can spray my car with I gave him a can of FREEZER!.Before I could to the kitchen tounpacked the food my client stated, What 's that smells like low tide at a beach? It was that FISH. Not ONLY did the fish had STRONG fishy smell it was also covered so thick with BATTER and a very LARGE SLICE OF LEMON atop of it as so to take away the heavy pungent ordor. When I opened the very small $5+ Mac n Cheese, tasted it, 3x 's to be sure what I 2as tasting WAS NOT what I thought it was... low and behold it WAS... SPOILED MILK...and the P Salad was WARM.Money I LITERALLY GAVE AWAY.Of course I called the PLACE and got a song n dance lie about the manager and on owner not being onsite, and will be there the next day Saturday Really????. PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT
