Americansoul Kitchen - Meriden

We visited for the first time and were not disappointed. I started with fried green tomatoes and creamy crab corn chowder as my appetizer, both of which were fantastic. For the main course, we had the shrimp basket served with thinly sliced French fries and coleslaw. My companions had the Southern-fried chicken sandwich, which also came with thin French fries, alongside the Hubbard Punch drinks and beer (which wasn’t on the menu). Everything was delicious and the place was very clean. We definitely plan to return! A quick note: please be kind and patient with the waitress and bartender. There was a man behind me who was a bit rude, even though he hadn’t been there for long. Regardless, we’ll be back!

On a Sunday afternoon, my friends and I enjoyed a late lunch followed by an early dinner reservation at 4:00 PM. We tried a variety of dishes, including wings, crabs, corn chowder, fried chicken, chicken and waffles, lobster mac and cheese, and a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, along with some delicious bread. The staff was friendly, but what really stood out was the amazing food. Everything was incredibly tasty—even my salad, which I felt a bit odd ordering (who goes to a place like this and orders a salad?!). I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again; it's worth the trip!

I’m really glad I chose this place! Nakajai was our server, and she was fantastic—very attentive and made excellent suggestions that made me feel right at home. I've been to a few other soul food restaurants in Connecticut (and I won’t name names), but none of them compare to this one! I ordered the “Fried Whiting” with mac and cheese and collard greens, and WOW! The chef back in the kitchen is truly a wizard!

Great service! Delicious food serves hot and fresh tasting good portions, well made drinks not watered... First visit was for early dinner and happy hour. Second Nabeby brought for dinner. Look forward to a quick return!!

American Soul is worth the trip From anywhere! The food is outstanding and the staff is friendly and accommodating! Stevie tends a tidy, friendly and efficient bar! The beer is nice and cold. I’ve had the lobster Mac cheese which was great and served in a large portion! The country fried steak is perfectly seasoned and served piping hot! Im going back often. Trying the Sunday brunch tomorrow!
