Great for snow tubing! Easy to find times and adjust reservation. Excellent customer service. The tubing is fun and stuff are great. They will slim you if you ask! Also parking is available. Overall very good experience for all ages. Phot credit: Selfie of the best spinning staff lol
Best tubing time ever! Check-in quick and crowd was minimal; got in dozens of runs. And the staff is friendly and fun.Booked a two-hour slot almost 10 days in advance (Fri 6 Jan 5PM), and I nervously watched the weather. Not only was there no snowfall in weeks prior, but the days in the 60s and nights in the 40s did not allow snow-making at the resort. Still, the website advertised a certain number of ski-runs were open, as well as tubing. I was also concerned about some reviews of massive crowds, slow check-in, and poor communication about closures.I don’t know anything about the skiing portion, but my check-in for tubing could not have been easier. Parking plentiful. Got there a few minutes before our 5PM time slot—which was when they opened for the night—gave my confirmation number, and was promptly issued tickets.Crowd was small, thanks to the reservation system, and wait times were minimal. I got in plenty of runs—enough so that I felt completely satisfied.Staff is tremendous. Helpers at the top are friendly, with enthusiastic lively banter. They’ll get you safely seated, accommodate special requests such as hooking tubes together for families, give you a good running start downward, and will even start you spinning if you want. Safety observers at the bottom assist if needed. (Thank you, Liz, for retrieving my lost glove.)The evening was perfect. Thanks again to the staff.
Photos do not show everything..Tubing was open everyone having fun. Some mountains open, fun! Food venues all open even at tubing..I recommend you really watch weather for conditions call the resort ,they are very helpful..Good times!
I went to Whitetail yesterday as the first ski trip of the season (late Dec of 2022).What earned this 5 stars wasn't the variety of runs (because it was early season, there were only 3 blue runs and a few greens open and no blacks), or the size of the mountain (Whitetail is no Breckenridge or Whistler) but the people are awesome and for the area, the mountain is fairly good. Here are a few examples of people making the difference: They have people to greet you when you first enter the ski area and if you have an Epic pass, they zap you and greet you by name. The lifties (Meghan and Autumn) were super friendly they were fun and always smiling even though it could be a monotonous job. I stopped by the ski patrol hut to ask a question about a Boy Scouts trip coming up and I was absolutely touched by their dedication to service. Each of them seem to live to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I have a wall in my garage with the maps of every place I've skied so on the way out, I asked for a map at the ticket window. The woman asked me to hold on and disappeared for a minute or two. She said that they usually don't give out maps but handed me one which looks like something they printed on a color printer just for me.Earlier, I said that Whitetail is no Breckenridge or Whistler but for the mid Atlantic area it's not bad. The high speed quad literally doubled the amount of runs I could do (I ended up doing 24 runs) and the runs that were open had a nice character. In the past Timberline has been my go to day trip ski place and while I still think Timberline is a great resort Whitetail is closer and may be my new local favorite.
