Contribuiți la feedbackThe restaurant has recently expanded their eating area, which has completely changed the ambiance. What used to be a charming rustic cafe/restaurant with delicious food now feels like a cafeteria, with an overwhelming greasy smell from frying food. I ordered scampi and chips with aioli mayonnaise, and requested tartare sauce which cost an extra £1.75 for a small pot. The baked potatoes and sandwiches were priced at £9, but only came with crisps, salad, and coleslaw. This felt like a rip-off. The new changes have ruined the entire dining experience for me and I was embarrassed in front of my friends. I won't be returning.
We have all really enjoyed meals at Whiterow but sadly this time it wasn't great. They have just opened a new area which is nice and bright however, we ordered the same meals we usually have but when the wait staff took the order she did seem a bit muddled (she seemed nice but possibly was new). 3 of the meals came out together and then the last one came out a few minutes later (not an issue really). The worst bit though was that the chips were terrible. Really dry, not sure if they had been reheated or under a heat lamp too long as they inedible really. When the waitress came over to ask if everything was okay we did say that the chips weren't very good and she didn't really know what to say so just apologised for it. I think it's the first time i've ever said anything in a restaurant and we definitely aren't ones to complete but they were not good. At the end when the plates were collected we had left most of the chips and no comment was made about it. Overall the fish was still nice and portion size was good but we don't live that close and it's doubtful if we'll go back due to the disappointing chips and no acknowledgement of any issue.
After a strange process of ordering in the shop, being given an alarm, and then going to the window to pick up my food, I found that the fish was very dry and the batter was like cardboard. Although I have been a customer of this restaurant since it opened, I will not be returning after this disappointing experience. Very sad indeed.
Sad to say cooked breakfast was overpriced and average at best. My wife ordered 2 poached eggs on toast, What she got was 1 poached egg 1 hard boiled egg and a mouthful of eggshell . Craftily the hard egg was place under the poached egg. Mentioned it to the waitress who tbf couldn't give a Monkies !!! With coffee that was poor it came to £24 ... I know times are difficult but come on guys bit of pride in your work....
I ordered take away fish and chips for two and was given a buzzer that would alert me as I waited in my car when my order was ready. After waiting more than twenty minutes I returned to query the length of my wait (it was not busy); the buzzer sounded as I reached the door of the shop. I was told I had been buzzed five times (the buzzer had not sounded while I was in my car clearly for whatever reason there is a range issue) and that a member of staff had looked for me in the car park (obviously they had not looked very far). I seemed not to be believed that the buzzer did not work and, when I queried whether my food would still be hot if they had spent some time supposedly buzzing and looking for me, I was glibly told my food would still be hot and no offer was made to replace my order with fresh food. After a very short drive home I discovered the inevitable: the food was lukewarm and inedible. £24 had been wasted. My last visit to Whiterow Fish and Chips.
