Contribuiți la feedbackI've had two The Living Room experiences, the first in Manchester and the second in Leeds. Whilst Manchester is slightly lighter in it's decor, Leeds favours the moody dark leather, of which there is lots of the stuff. The Living Room belies it's name, as when we first went, being told to dress up nicely, something I rarely do unless forced, clean yes, good quality yes, tidy and nice, rarity, but yes being told to dress up nicely to go to a place called The Living Room really did confuse me a bit. Dress codes are important here, and this is evident with the men in black on door whenever the hour turns from day to evening. White trainers are not allowed. This is something of a staple no matter which Living Room you choose to dine and drink in. Our party consisted of 12 and one birthday girl. The table was booked in advance, and when we showed up our reservations were held and the table was waiting for us, and a nice and smartly dressed chappy showed us to our table. They weren't told it was a birthday party, but when they found out, they made an extra fuss of the birthday girl, which was lovely, there was even a birthday cocktail and dessert. The waiting staff were really attentive and very calm considering the duration of our stay, and much to my shame, the slightly intoxicated behaviour of a couple of the girls. Ordering here at a night time when there are no buffet or lunch offers can be expensive, so make sure your wallets and purses are nice and full as for three courses and a couple of drinks we were each down by about £30-£35 in the money department. The food was lovely, but as Alexandra states, it was overpriced for what it was. It's a lovely place to eat for an occasion, the decor is slightly over the top with dark leather, dark tones on the walls, lots of dark and plush hanging fabrics, and at times with the low lighting and dark walls, it's often a bit hard to see what your eating, and if alcohol is involved, each other. There was a good atmosphere, everyone lapped up their food, and it was a really good night. Maybe my fond memory of the night is carrying my rating to 4 stars, but in this case I think it warrants it.
The Living Room is a chilled out pub/bar by day and a funky lounge/cocktail bar by night. It is opposite La Tasca in a white building that looks kind of scary at nights with a bouncer in either side. MI5 stylee. During the day it is relaxed and not too snotty like some restaurants can be. The waitresses are friendly and welcoming. They sell a good range of lunch options including sandwiches, salads, hearty English dishes and the more exotic yet more frequently found Thai Curries. The food quality is average to be honest, and slightly over priced for what it is. In the evening it is a pleasant place to be, if you like trendy lounge places. Slightly pretentious and quite strict on door policy. I wouldn't get in if I wore my usual attire of tatty jeans and grubby boots but then if I did get in I would feel really out of place there. It's quite dressy and for me a bit uncomfortable as I'm not really that kind of gal. I would go here if......... Day-time: Someone else was paying Evening: Works do or quick cocktail before a dinner somewhere else, as long as I'd been pre-warned to dress up a bit.
If I ever need a cocktail in Leeds, this place is always for me. This is my favourite cocktail menu in Leeds and always hits the spot. They have a cocktail for everyone, my particular favourite is the Pornstar martini however I 've been known to spend an afternoon sampling the rest of the menu 's delights and have never been disappointed. There is always an eclectic mix of people in here and the bar staff are quite friendly. The only downfall is the length of time it is to get served sometimes- and a 'happy hour ' or equivalent would be good :-D
Well disappointingly it seems that the 'Elite Greek Street ' attitude is still alive well in Leeds, with The Living Room feeling itself that large cut above the rest. Ok, so the venue is pretty decent and I really enjoyed the food, but the staff definitely gave off the impression that they were too good for the job, and that 's also the idea I 've got from here on previous visits too. If pretentious staff don 't bother you (bit of a bug bear of mine! then there isn 't really anything else I have against the place, as I said the food was good made even better by the 50% discount that 's available during January...
I went to The Living Room for lunch on Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised! I had only previously been for drinks on nights out and last time I went I thought the place could do with a bit of a spruce up so it was great to see that it has recently been decorated and revamped. We sat in the restaurant area in one of the leather booths and it was so comfortable. The restaurant has an extensive menu and although there weren't any offers on a Sunday, one of my friends had an iphone and using the voucher cloud app they found a discount code for 30% off our food bill which was ace! I had the battered prawns with a sweet chilli dip to start and it was gorgeous! The prawns were massive and I got maybe 8 of them so I was feeling quite full after gobbling them all down. For my main course I had the burger and chips which was nice but it wasn't the best burger I've ever had. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and their was a guy playing the piano and singing which added to the atmosphere. I think The Living Room is a great venue for lunch with friends!
