Horrible service and treatment!! I will never support this organization again! And I’m a veteran.

PLANNING A SPECIAL EVENT? Think again before booking with the McHenry VFW. We had my father-in-law’s (a veteran) celebration of life event scheduled over a month in advance and A WEEK BEFORE THE EVENT THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY HAD TO BREAK CONTRACT!! This is unheard of for such an event planned well in advance. The event at the VFW has been publicly announced for over a month through the funeral home, Face Book, email, and word of mouth. There are family members and friends flying in from different parts of the country with plane tickets that were purchased in advance! The McHenry VFW failed a veteran and failed his family and the community. I don’t understand how anyone, or any organization, could feel comfortable morally with the decision to cancel an event of this nature 9 days in advance! I hope they have a good explanation to any of our guests who show up on Saturday March 4, 2023 between 1-4 PM. Please be very cautious if you are planning an event at this location. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO GUARANTEES OR CHECKS-AND-BALANCES IN PLACE WITH THE OWNER/S and or EVENT PLANNING COMMITTEE.
