Contribuiți la feedbackI am perplexed at the positive reviews for this place. This place is definitely not authentic thai, but even worse still the food is mediocre. The dishes lack ingredients for the price you're paying and the food in general lacks the balance of spice and flavour that you'd expect from a good Thai place. I've had better Thai out of a frozen meal.
I have never eaten at the Ploy Thai, but often get takeout from there. The red duck curry is to die for... the meat is so tender and the sweetness of the lychee and pineapple makes the whole dish pop. I also love their pad thai - quite authentic and thoroughly delicious.
Love the food and the service. We had the fish cake fir starter (so good) and for mains the duck red curry w lychee, pineapple tomato and coconut milk, vegetarian stirfry veggies and thai beef salad. He found the red curry a bit too sweet but i thought it was perfect ( so clearly a personal taste issue). Both the curry and the salad were very generous w the meat. We also got 2x rice which was basically a "bottomless" serve . They were extremely accommodating and gave us our favorite table when we called to book. Recommend you book though as is tiny restaurant and very popular! All together incl corkage came to $56.
Decided to check the place out for takeaway after reading the reviews when I needed a quick dinner tonight. Very disappointed especially considering the restaurant score and reviews. I got the mixed entree and chicken fried rice. Spring roll was bland and boring. The money bag and stuffed chicken wing were very oily and again lacked flavour. The fish cake was ok, good without being spectacular. The dipping sauce was just plain bad. The fried rice was just average with no real flavour. Compared to my local haunt in Pinto Thai this place isn't even on the same planet.
I'll never go back there after I waa offended by the waitress. She told me that the table I was sitting at was reserved. I had a broken leg. It had been difficult to get up the steps let alone stand in the small aisle. I said that I would move if the customer for the table came and because I refused to move she put a reserved sign on the table. I would be concerned if you have a disability. The staff didn't I can sue if I was injured on their premises. The lack of understanding about duty of care and public liability in case you hurt yourself on their premises! The incident was poorly handled. Food wise? There are better, more authentic restaurants in the neighboring suburbs or home cooking. The mussaman beef is skimp on meat. It's supposed to be inch thick cubed, slowly cooked. The meat is sliced as you would get in a Chinese restaurant and the cut of meat is questionable. If you use Ayam brand, you can enjoy better Thai cooking at home.
