Focacceria Del Sedile - MATERA

The place is located in a wonderful place and is really let down with the food and service ‘with a smile’ We was so looking forward to trying some lasagna in Italy and we certainly got the wrong place for it. We sat outside and the service was quick. Peroni slightly more than other places but it’s in a prime spot. Lasagna came and it looked like something that would be served in the film ‘Prison Break’ it was very bland and cold in the middle. I really do think it was a some sort of frozen meal that hadn’t been heated up properly. We didn’t bother complaining as the waiter didn’t seem to speak much English. Again there was a service charge added to the bill which they really didn’t deserve. Please do not eat here. Drink only!!

I have a great nose for a restaurant, and after we read about this place on an old listing, looking for a salad I sought it out. Wrong! This is one time I didn't listen to myself. I asked the man who seemed all alone there if there was fresh basil for the pizza. He said yes, When he brought it of course there was none. I asked for fresh I said. We only have (dried) orgegano. No piquante (chili) oil, the worst salad ever (iceberg lettuce, canned tuna, light orange tomato and a bit of mozzarella. Coperto (cover) totalled 20 Euro for a pizza, a salad and some water, where down the road at the bottom of the square you get a delightful lunch, local women with a passion for food. No points for me.

You can enjoy eating outside or inside. Perfect location. Great food, but especially known for their pizza! Enjoy!
