I sat at one of the tables waiting patiently because the owner/counter lady said 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, then 1 hour later, no food while people who came in after me and dined in got theirs. I literally could have just dined in and ate there and probably would've been faster. She could've at least told me that it's taking longer but nothing. She said it was my fault. I should have called ahead. What? STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP! NO REGARD FOR CUSTOMER'S TIME. Also, the styrofoam containers break apart. One of the containers broke in half because the food was so hot and spilled all over my car's carpeting. I SEND A LOT OF MY CUSTOMERS AND CO-WORKERS TO EAT HERE BUT NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!
What a cool little place. They call is a bakery but it is so, so much more. They have a huge bakery cabinet full of gorgeous pastries to tempt you,as you select your own delicacies. But they also have great coffee drinks and bottled sodas. The food menu is equally impressive with tacos, tamales, empanadas, Fortas and tostadas. I openers for the Birria Tacos and a pork tamale. This brought refried beans and rice. Everything was prepared to perfection and I loved every bite. My cafe con leche was just right. Hospitality was very warm (like I walked into their home). I was here at 1:30 on Tuesday and business was quite brisk. Dining room was nearly full with lots of to-go trade, as well. Put La Union on your list for great “hole in the wall” Mexican food. Que Sabroso!
We ordered Cantina from this restaurant, thinking it was healthier. Don’t get fooled, they have same cheap food everyday, one day we had a good sopa de res! Yee the next time we order it was like water filled with squash and bones with hard meat that wasn’t cooked! They never know if you have payed and orders are never ready when you requested to have them, so you can pick up and go! Get ready they offer plain chicken with no flavor every day!
La Union Bakery is a local landmark, beloved by the community for it's inexpensive, fast, and tasty authentic Mexican food. Maria Nieto and her family, originally from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, opened the first taqueria and bakery shop in 2011 on the site of a former pizzeria on Wiles Road in Coral Springs. Some of the bakery specialities include dyed sugar cookies, guava empanadas, conchas, conas, baguettes, yeast rolls, and their best seller, tres leches cake. In 2018 they opened this second location in Margate in the El Bodegon shopping plaza on Sample Road. The pastries are made in the original location and brought here. There is a small dining area and along one wall is a stand serving shaved fruit ice creations drenched in condensed milk. This place is as authentic as it gets. It is food like your Abuela would make. Spanish is the primary language spoken here but the staff speaks English too. I saw a table filled with three generations of a family enjoying their meal. I was fixated on the tacos and I ordered the asada, pollo, and carnitas. They are served in soft flour tortillas with lettuce, tomato, queso fresco crema, cilantro, and lime. I also ordered the pollo flauta and steak nachos. It was a feast. The only problem I had with the food was when my guest bit intro a toothpick left in a pollo flauta. I recommend looking over the food before eating. Other than that you really can't go wrong with anything you order here. The staff was very kind too. They brought me a cup of water while I waited. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, La Union will satisfy your craving.
I was watching Taco Chronicles on Netflix and craved some tacos. I love Al PAstor tacos. They have it on the menu. Now I am spoiled from living 10 years in Dallas. I had great Al Pastor at Tacos El Gordo in Las Vegas and Los Tacos no. 1 in NYC. They have a trompo. They do not have this technique. They offer traditional taco which I like (cilantro and onion only) they do have with the tomatoes and lettuce as well. The Al Pastor was good though. The carne asada I did not like. The carnitas were really good. They also offer Sopes. Most people do not know what these are. My wife from El Salvador did not know. You know it is an authentic place if this is on the menu. It was really good.(it is: a thicker tortilla base with a lip. heated on a flat top. It is served open face. It has the protein, lettuce, tomato, crema, and avacado). Also, it has bakery in the title, but they had the pan dulce in a cabinet in the front of the store and not in a case behind the serving counter. I thought that was odd. They are located in a strip mall. Plenty of parking. They did have tables inside with social distancing. I will give them a try again. I will try the Wiles Rd. location next. I want to see if the bakery is better at that location.
