The winelist is far too expensive and the white wine we ordered by the glass was not only expensive but also not chilled properly. The service was very friendly and welcoming but they did get some simple things wrong by accident.
Firstly I 'd like to start with some good positives. The decor of this restaurant is excellent, it 's in a good location and it looks and feels up market. The food was very good, and the kitchen is on full view which I always think is a good testament to a quality restaurant. My wife had Veal and I had Pizza as I saw one coming out as we entered and it looked great. The food also came out very promptly indeed, albeit the wine list was over expensive with some on their small list, not even being available. Now the negatives. Actually getting in was a problem, there is no obvious entrance, as the whole frontage is glass panels, one of which acts as a door. Indeed it became rather amusing watching potential customers trying to find there way in. In fact, even if you had chosen the correct glass panel to push, they had actually locked it, as in their words it was a breezy night ...!!! As the evening progressed we watched five or six potential groups of customers wandering up and down the glass panels, knowing the place was open as they could see people dining, trying to find the way in. To be fair, staff did wander out to usher them in, but unfortunately as they got busy we saw one poor couple actually walk off having given up...!!! Oh for a simple entrance sign...or a door handle, I guess the glass panel will be left open in the summer...!!! The other things that we found more annoying were A) the main waiter was up himself, no humour whatsoever, a complete charisma by pass. I think he felt he was running an exclusive Italian restaurant in Rome, not San Pedro and it simply rubbed. B) No English menus, strange as most of the world speaks English as a second language, with the waiter actually saying if your English, you should be able to work it out from the Spanish menu ....!! Nice. Not can I help you, or sorry we don 't have English menus yet/never...!! C) a minor thing, but we sat on one side of the restaurant with what appears to be concrete benches with nice cushions on, unfortunately this made you too high for the tables and you looked down upon your guests who were sat in normal height chairs as well as making you lean forward which after a time, wasn 't too comfortable, albeit I am six foot tall. Anyway as mentioned the food was great, not too expensive but the wine prices need looking at, and certainly they should offer several around the 15-20 euro price like most of the other restaurants in San Pedro. We will probably come again, as the restaurant has not been open very long, as we always like to give newbies a second chance, and as mentioned the food and the Ambience was really good.
We visited this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend. The amuse bouche was very pleasant. However, three of us ordered veal which was a bit tough. The dish also had insufficient sauce. More sauce was brought but it was very thin. The wine list was hideously expensive. 19 euros for a bottle of their house white was scandalous. We had only one course but we were given a nice tiramisu to share on the house. Service was very haphazard and despite having been opened for over two months they do not have an english menu or a translation. There are a lot of good value restaurants in the San Pedro area so we will give this restaurant a miss in future.
Note I have attached a check as a picture from the restaurant as the name and address are wrong on your site. This new comer, Italian owned and staffed Al Bacio has an lovely new upmarket interior and cosy warm air conditioning. It is situated on the main road north and at the beginning of the new boulevard. For starters I had the mixed salad which was fresh and interesting. To follow I had the Saltimmboca which was excellent. Couple that with first class service and Al Bacio is going to set a high standard for other local restaurants to follow. The bill was reasonable for the quality of cuisine served. Little wonder I give this restaurant 5 stars.
Yet another new boy on the block, open for Just 2 months, this traditional Italian restaurant, in a prime position towards the easterly end of the San Pedro Boulevard has been beautiful conceived and furnished to a high standard, lit with port hole like fittings. With about 60 covers inside and a further 50 on the boulevard outside. With NO English menu available, your choice has to be made from either a Spanish or an Italian menu. Over 70 dishes are listed with most of the expected offerings from this cuisine present. We selected Pumpkin Soup and Palma Ham with Melon for starters, and mains of Ravioli with Mushroom in a white Truffle sauce and Parmesan shavings, and for me, Escalopine Marsala with potato papas and Broccoli heads. Little did I realize when I ordered this dish that the chef wouldn’t include the normal Sweet Marsala wine to make the sauce, but instead used the Dry alternative, that brought little flavour to an otherwise exceptional meal Bottom line: we will return the VS Al Baco is to be found on the north side of Avd. De Boulevard No. 8 Street parking or in Avda. Marques del Duero 200m. west. No Credit cards taken at present. They open for Lunch Dinner 7 days a week. average cost of a 3 course meal with wine $30.
