Nonetheless, they were happy to accommodate us, and served us 2 great meals, a stew and a dish of cabrito (young goat) on the oven, all accompanied by the greatest Arroz de feijao (beans' soaked rice) that was in itself a meal. Bread and Excellent local cheese soften the brief wait for the food to arrive. Local wine, a must. The space is a small and intimist old rural inspired room, on the back of a cafe, with walls covered with pics from at least 30 years of their existence. I recognized the chef that had come to ask us about the food as a much younger man in one of those, along with some celebrities as Eusebio and even a younger version of the actual prime minister. No worries, is definitely a humble place, focus on food, not on please VIPs, just some seems to also put food above fancier or more upscale restaurants. A bit high priced for the zone, but still highly recommended!
Valério is so delicious because this family is dedicated to this food excellency for more than 25 years. They know how to cook veal and codfish the way it should be in the best tradition; For wine ? Dão Monteirinhos is a must. Take a picture with all the famous visitors before you ;
We had pre-arranged wild boar and venison stew. Both were excellent. Service was good and by the time we left the restaurant (small) was full. After we had our lunch our table was taken by a top chef from Lisbon, says it all.
