The Yorkshire pudding was unusually large and had a texture more like meringue. The "goose fat roasted potatoes" were dry and oddly flavored. The stuffing was difficult to eat and required effort to cut. The "pig in blanket" was more like a large sausage wrapped in a small piece of bacon. However, the turkey and gravy were decent. We were offered minted new potatoes to make up for the disappointing meal, but we declined. This was our first restaurant outing post-pandemic, and we were disappointed that the restaurant did not make more effort to win us back as customers.
The interior of the pub is charming and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere. The service was a bit slow today, as there were only two bartenders, but the prices were fair and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. There is also outdoor seating available. It's a great spot to grab a drink after a stroll in Fletcher Moss Park.
Located near Fletcher Moss Park, The Didsbury Pub, formerly known as Didsbury Brasserie, has a rich history dating back over 300 years. It is famous for being the site where James Joule sold the world's first artificially carbonated beer. Today, the pub operates as a Chef and Brewer with a menu of nice but generic food. While the specials are often a highlight, the overall atmosphere is child-friendly. However, it may benefit from maintaining a separate area near the bar for those looking for a drink-only experience, as to not feel exclusively like a dining venue.
Four of us dropped in here last night early evening for a quick so there wasn't many in. As soon as we walked in our waitress looked after us superbly, nothing was to much trouble and her service was first class. Although the starter for my sister and I, chorizo and bubble and squeak wasn't cooked enough , the egg white was runny and the bub/sqk was undercooked the rest of the meals were fantastic. the service and food was great and we cannot wait to return. thanks to all especially the waitress TARA. Last night Monday dec 2 .
