The service was very good in the beginning, but as it became bussier they didnt mentioned us any more. We waited some time to ask for the bill and after that a long time for it to arrive. Next time we go have dinner elsewhere....
My wife and I shared the chivo al horno and house salad. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service was pleasant and the bill was reasonable. All in all highly recommended. But bring something to do (or someone to converse with) because it’s not fast.
I asked for the Chivo al Horno de Barro and it was actually delicious. Service wad good but it was quite hot inside. We didn 't take a table outisde because it was too dark to have a meal.
We made a beeline here and made a reservation the fist night we were in Malarge and were told to arrive at 914pm. A bit odd, but we did and the place was about 1/3 full. Our table was by the toilets, when there were free tables (ie without 'reservation ' signs) elsewhere. We indicated that we would like to move but were indicated back, fairly brusquely ... no. Surely you put late comers on the not so good tables? It took ages to be served; we asked for the really nice wine that we spied earlier in the day and was told it wasn 't available so my friend got up and pointed it out ... and it was served. At this point I 'm wondering if there is an 'Anglo ' factor at play here (ie locals get priority in everything). Who knows? I ordered the claypot goat and it came out terribly overcooked, dry and gristly. Was it left over from the previous night? My friend 's pasta was equally disappointing. We went back the next night without a reservation, as our planned other options fell through. Much better table, and the steak meals were also better, but still far short of the reputation of this restaurant. Try elsewhere is my advice or if you go, go early without a reservation if you are an Anglo.
Great rustic log interior. Open for lunch and dinner (siesta in between). We had lunch there on a weekday; early (12:30) it was about half full. Typical Argentine steakhouse, with other entrees including roasted goat (Chivo). My wife and I split a rib eye (lomo) with fries and a mixed salad. More than enough for both of us! A good choice in Malargue.
