In addition to the regular menu items there were also a few specials. for a starter I had the carpaccio. this was a full-sized plate of thin cut bark meat with crispy fried...more
43 north was one of the first restaurants we visited about three years back when we first moved to madison. we have become quite the regular and thought this place would be a good start for writing reviews on our blog. the first time we have dined here, we sat on the table for two directly next to their French window in a late summer evening. I remember our host was fred with which we had the opportunity to enjoy many meal times in the last few years. the interiors are stylistic modern and feel completely open, even in the sense that you could get a look at the kitchen. we love the black color, polished tables and a really cool conceptual art spans the wall. 43 North...read more
We sat on our table and waited for our eating when I said to my man in unbreeding, have they simply led a huge confused head of salats to this table? we stared at when our food arrived and it turned out that we had also ordered a huge devastating head of salat in the form of the grilled Caesar salad. they grill. a whole. head. of romaine. and dress it and bring it to her table, with poched egg and roasted swirl. there is a reason why no one else makes so salate: because it is terrible. the scallops I got (2 scallops for $15, if they are about what a small plate contains) were on what seemed a bed of devoured...read more
Great Date. My husband and I recently came to 43 North to celebrate my birthday, and we were headed to an event at the Overture Center later. We had made a reservation, since it was a Saturday night, so we were seated immediately, which is always nice. After briefly looking over the menu, we ordered drinks, and the stuffed dates to start, since we have a hard time passing them up when ever we see them on a menu. The pesto that accompanied them was light and fresh, and the hazel nuts were delicious. Next, I tried the lobster bisque. The presentation was beautiful. The broth was rich and creamy, and the tarragon marshmallow was surprisingly pleasant. For our entrees, my husband...read more
Fit for Foodies. We had a group of 5. We ordered a variety of items to share and all items were very good except the scallops. The service was good and attentive. It is a little pricey. It you like to try new and creative item I recommend this place. Start with small plates to try things out. My favorites were the buckwheat noodles and the duck. The tri tip salad and market greens were also very good. The scallops were OK but when scallops are not served hot they miss the mark. If you're a foodie you should give it a try. -TK
