We were torn between the visit of the two art galleries in the city and I am glad that we chose them. Fantastic current exhibition by Claudia Comte with sculpture and painting over ten rooms. We loved the wooden swings hanging on the ceiling we could play! Beautiful view from the gallery and interesting architecture.
This is another fantastic museum in Lucerne with a beautiful collection in an equally beautiful space. Moder Swiss art and it is great! Take your time to study each piece and enjoy it.
I visited the KKL kunstmuseum cafe on the top floor as they could tempt me with home-made culinary delicacies from the region through their offered afternoon tea. I was tempted, and as it was a calm afternoon at 2pm, I had a seat. Although the choice of tea was somewhat limited, I settled with one of the suggested black teas. The tea was served within 1 minute of my order was made, in a heavy white mug with no futher comment. I already regret my choice, as the tea would probably be cold before any of the culinary delicacies would arrive. I was right. Some 5 minutes later I was distracted from the burned smell from the kitchen, and assumed it was the first attempt to prepare (re-heat) the scones. The waitress was sweet and nice, but obviously not prepared for her task. I consumed my tea slowly while waiting for my tray. I was never asked whether I would like milk or sugar with my tea, and it was also not served with the mug I received. Finally, a 2 storey tray with refreshments were served. I started by amusing myself with the scones. They were tiny and hard, but tasted alright with cream and jam (flavoured sugar gel). The same can unfortunately not be said about the rest of the tray. There were two types of tramezzinis , both were dreadful. It was basically to dry pieces of coloured tasteless bread with salmon and eggplant. None of the pieces on the tray were prepared today, hopefully only yesterday. I had one bite of each sort, but they honestly tasted dreadful. The spinach and riccota roulade were simply a distaste, and not even the chocolate cake were interesting. The weirdest thing was the mini-pastries with corn and taco-spices. Totally diasterous. I am under the belief that if you have no idea what so ever on how to perform a simple task, do not try to impress someone with it. This was a large culinary disappointment.
The museum located on the 4th floor of the concert hall KKL at the station I am here because my son comes to an art club every month which links with the current exhibition So I do not have to pay to collect him and have seen the different collections shown to me by my son. At times the collections have been interesting but you have to like modern art and not all things will appeal So the location and the cafe with exhibits is worth it. if you are on a tight budget and not a fan of modern art then give it a miss The view from the cafe is free
