Tacos El Unico - Los Angeles

I spent under $20 for two meals for me and my son. I really love this place; the carne asada is consistently excellent. The nachos are amazing, and the quesadilla is fantastic as well. I’ve been eating here for 23 years. It’s definitely my go-to spot!

I wouldn't recommend ordering the Regular Mexican hamburger. Every time I've tried it, the bun feels like it's been stored for weeks and ends up being quite hard. I've also given the Jr. Mexican asada burger several chances, but only once did they cook the meat properly; the last few times, it looked undercooked. As for the asada fries, they're nothing special either—I've noticed the meat is undercooked there as well. The horchata tastes more like a powdered mix that you just add water to rather than authentic. The churros are decent, though.

The veggie burritos are among the best in South L.A. and I highly recommend them. Based on my experiences, I am always highly satisfied with the overall value for the price I paid.

Although I haven’t visited Tacos El Unico in person myself yet, my wife and daughter have become regular customers. I’m aware that the neighborhood can be a bit daunting for outsiders, but let me tell you, their extra-large fish tacos are truly the best I’ve ever tasted. As a pescatarian, I’ve tried my fair share of fish tacos, and I can confidently say that the vegetables are fresh, while the fish is perfectly grilled and seasoned. I highly recommend El Unico, and judging by the frequency of my wife and daughter's visits, I’m sure the rest of the menu is equally impressive.

Both the green and red salsas pack a punch! The chicken, beef, and al pastor tacos were decent, and the jamaica was enjoyable. While they're not the best tacos around, they're definitely better than having no tacos at all, especially given the reasonable prices. Some places nearby are asking $5 per taco, which is just outrageous! Overall, I'd rate the food a 3 out of 5.
