Phorage - Los Angeles

My first experience with Pho was quite enjoyable. The portion was enormous—I couldn't finish it! I appreciated the clearly marked gluten-free options, which is why I chose this restaurant. The staff seemed a bit standoffish at first, but they became friendlier as I was leaving. Keep in mind that parking is limited in the lot shared with other stores.

I absolutely love phorage. Vibes and ambiance are great, and the delivery is even better. My dashpass with door dash gets me a bowl of fulfillment in the winter time. I'll never leave my house again! They really don't cheap out and they get me well fed, returning as a happy customer each time.

The Jidori Chicken Broken Rice Bowl was straightforward, featuring a generous serving of chicken with rice and some vegetables on the side, all accompanied by a sweet fish sauce. While it was simple and flavorful, I wished it included more herbs and vegetables to lighten the dish. The Pho Birria de Res was quite interesting, as it fuses Mexican-style stewed broth with Vietnamese pho. I loved the concept, but unfortunately, the broth lacked flavor and depth. The rice noodles were also quite clumpy and needed some reheating to separate them. It came with shredded cabbage and jalapeños, plus plenty of lime to enhance the dish. It’s an intriguing combination, but it could definitely be executed better. The Thai Tea Boba was decent. The tapioca pearls were slightly tough but not terrible. It wasn't the best boba I've had, but it was acceptable. I'm hopeful that when they reopen for dine-in, the quality will improve.

I've visited this restaurant a few times and I plan to keep enjoying their home-style Vietnamese cuisine. The quality of the food is definitely above average. Everything is served fresh, but I have to mention that their Pho is somewhat lacking in flavor compared to other places. It's a shame because it looks and feels so fresh and appealing. On a positive note, I really appreciate their to-go containers; they are the best I've ever encountered. They do a fantastic job of keeping everything fresh, even when DoorDash takes longer than expected to deliver your order.

Stopped by once we realized the Kogi truck wasn?t there and it was a great filler food. Not convinced on authenticity of Pho but everyone was super nice and flavors were good. I?d go again if I was super hunger and in the area.
