Contribuiți la feedbackWent to Ashtown branch three times in the last fortnight. Very quiet both afternoons, but busier for mornings. Coffee twice with a pal. Not great. We ordered two flat whites and had to send them back. Staff surprised but re-did them but gave back exact same kind of milky latte coffees. Not friendly staff if I’m honest. Breakfast food on 3rd occasion was excellent. Pricey, but worth it. Huge 4-egg omelette with gorgeous sourdough toast. Bang for your buck! Again, staff were not welcoming on arrival. Just let us get our own seats and we’re clear that there was NO table service and we had to return to the till to order and pre-pay. Odd as it was very quiet and table service would have been nice! Coffees were again poor. On positive note space is lovely and bright. Outdoor seating is great for sunny weather. Right on the canal walkway. Food is expensive but quality is excellent. Parking is limited on road but tons under Supervalue. Beside Ashtown train station and close to Phoenix Park.
Had previously been in Douglas Kaldi prior to pandemic. Considered it a nice bright location providing good food service. It`s popularity was confirmed by being very busy regularly waiting for a table. We were a party of 4 who I invited to lunch at D K yesterday. There was no queue but we were told at the entrance to pick our food/drink choices from a single photocopied? menu. Rather than us standing there trying to choose what we wanted, I took menu photograph, requested a table I would return to the entrance to order pay. Tables were about 30% occupied. When I was about to pay, a large tip jar was shoved towards me told something like please add a tip for the staff . I added a tip as I would normally do, but was very taken aback by the manner of the request/instruction. I myself had a croque madame, totally unlike any I had eaten before not recommended. My wife had a desert with inedible rock hard meringue. my two other invitees said their choices were ok . To say I was disappointed with this eatery is somewhat of an understatement. Not to be recommended.
Gluten Free/Coeliac people stay away! Awful experience today! I’ve been going there for the last 2 years. Before it was okay, a half decent gluten free breakfast. But today, they served it with non gluten options. I know the menu well enough cause I go there a lot. I know what is and what isn’t gluten free. They didn’t apologize. Simply gave me a place to take off what I thought wasn’t gluten free. I then asked for a new breakfast as the gluten options were mixed with the non gluten options. I saw in the kitchen then simply took some items off with their hands and went to give it back. Again NO APOLOGY! NO MAKING A NEW ONE! They weren’t impressed when I said it wasn’t good enough and I wanted my money back. Really dangerous to give gluten to coeliac sufferers. Rude not to correct and apologize. And then to simply throw the money in my hand without any remorse is disgraceful. Never going there again!
I went to this restaurant for lunch yesterday and waited for 25 minutes to be seated. When I arrived, I was given a worn-out menu to choose from and then told to have payment ready before ordering. The person taking orders collected payment and then placed a large jar in front of me, asking for a contribution for the floor staff. I reluctantly made a contribution, which turned out to be a big mistake. The service was so poor that three people in our area asked for refunds or their food to be served. The food finally arrived, missing the kids' chips and garlic mayo. After multiple requests, they eventually brought them out. The food itself was disappointing - the goat cheese salad consisted of a bowl of spinach leaves with a small amount of melted goat cheese, six pieces of fig, and three slices of red onion. The ultimate sandwich on focaccia bread was also a letdown, with reheated, soggy chips. When my wife asked for ice and a glass, the waiter seemed disinterested and rolled his eyes. When we went to pay nearly 64 euros in cash, we were told the receipt machine was out of paper and that they would bring one to our table once they cleared the queue. However, the receipt never arrived. I would not recommend this place - find somewhere where your money is valued and the food is enjoyable.
Went shopping on a Saturday afternoon. Decided to go for brunch in this spot. My partner ordered the full breakfast and I ordered the breakfast burrito. Took close to half an hour for our food to arrive in a half full restaurant. Food itself was bland flavourless and cheap. My partners poached egg came hard boiled no runny yoke. 1 sausage 1 piece of bacon some pudding and hash browns, along with clearly very out of date mushrooms. Breakfast burrito wasn’t much better. An employee or a manger came over to me as of writing this review to enquire what was wrong. He told tell the mushrooms were in fact fresh from that morning despite being severely wrinkled and bruised even after cooking. All around terrible experience, which somehow was made worse by passive aggressive interaction with the manager ? trying to tell me I’m wrong. To his credit he did make a half hearted attempt to refund me which I turned down preferring to just leave the restaurant at that stage. wanted to include pictures of said mushrooms but staff interaction happened before I could
