Columbia's Steak House - Lexington

My son and I stopped in this little gem. Ordered the porterhouse with baked potato. Fried mushrooms for appetizers. Everything was on point from the service to the last bite of food. Great prices too.

A Lexington legend. I got the Columbia's Special, a massive buttery soft tenderloin with a baked potato the size and shape of a rugby ball. There's a pressed-tin ceiling and the place is lit like an Old West brothel. Flo, the maître d', seems to have been there forever. Strongly recommended. Only complaint: service was a bit slow at about 6 PM, and it wasn't that crowded.

First off, there is only one Columbia's and it's on Limestone. After not eating there for years it is exactly the same and that is a great thing. At least something in Lexington hasn't changed. But since it's perfect why would you? Having a Nighthawk with two of my best friends was fantastic. I do and always will recommend Columbia's whenever you are even close to Lexington.

Columbia’s, a hometown favorite for 78 years, is best enjoyed at the downtown location. The Diego salad is like no other salad in Lexington and you can always count on the best, hearty cheeseburger in town. Crinkle cut fries are on the menu, but step up your game with the home cut steak fries which are simply massive slabs of deep fried potato, crispy on the outside and creamy potato on the inside. Branching out from the always popular Night Hawk beef tenderloin, the shrimp or fish are each a good choice. Live on the edge and go for the famous Kentucky Hot Brown served steaming with cheesy deliciousness and you will not be disappointed. The sinfully decadent corn pudding is a “veggie” not to miss. If your heart can take the excitement, every dessert on the menu is a winner.

Really nice place! Line of 10 was at the door right when they opened but we still got seated and ordered quickly. Food less expensive than we expected. However it was all excellent. We had the porterhouse and salmon. Even their house salad was tops. The croutons were something special. Our server Lyric (sp? , she did great. Brought refills before we needed them. Checked on us often.
