Simple American food available late night for Bates students and anyone looking to avoid Bates dining commons. There also have a selection of beer, sushi, and ice cream shakes for those that so desire. It isn't anything special, but when I'm hungry at night it gets the job done. Fries are cheap, while mozzarella sticks, though preferred, are a bit pricy at $3.60 for 6.
A small, cozy, great place to hang with their friends. Surprisingly I had my favorite hamburger and chicken wings in the states. friendly crew, flexible hours for students who starve during the late night studies, and convenient delivery! although delivery is really overpriced (4 dollars)
The menu leans heavily toward American comfort food, with a few Tex-Mex twists that, while not the best for my stomach, add some interesting options. My top picks include the Bates Burger topped with a fried egg—it's absolutely heavenly when you're too tipsy to think straight—and the mac 'n' cheese with lobster, which gives a nice local flair. If you're in a hurry, the Bobcat Den also has several cold items that are super convenient for those on the go. And speaking of cold treats, their F'Real milkshake machine is a delight for both sober and bleary-eyed students alike. Just be cautious with those shakes; they might become a little too tempting to resist! For those who have a sweet tooth, you’ll find freshly baked goods available at the counter by the fruit, prepared just four days ago in the Commons. Now, let's talk about the service—it's a dream! The smooth voice of the man working the P.A. system will keep you on edge, eagerly waiting to hear if you're the next lucky winner. And if you think you might doze off after a long night out, don't worry! The cashier has a smile that could outshine even the strongest cup of coffee, ensuring you leave with a grin and some confusion over whether his remarks were serious. No review of the Den would be complete without mentioning Den Delivery. These dedicated folks are there for you come rain or shine (or snow, depending on the season). Remember to tip well; you never know, they might use it to get some goodies from you next week!
This hidden gem on campus serves the best breakfast sandwiches in the Los Angeles area. They also offer beer in the evenings. Non-students are welcome, and the atmosphere is cool, clean, and comfortable.
