Turns out that the restaurant was part of Chefscape and inside under an office building. Schescape has different little food areas such as Italian, Colombian, Mexican and I think Asian all with a bar and sound stage. Once we learned where it was located we had a great lunch. We shared Chorizo con Arepa, awesome churizo sausage and the arepa was stuffed with cheese just like I had in Colombia. We also shared a plate of empandas (meat) they were a home run!!! The only recommendation I have for the Colombian portion is the aji to be more spicier than sweeter from my past experiences with Colombian aji. Definitely will go back if we are in the area again.
It’s a fun place. Modern, high ceilings, dark walls, dim bar lighting, with a dancing, singing crowd. There was a band the night we went, the bar was hopping, and it was lively. We found a table easily and sat down to wait for a server....who never came. And we realized that you order by QR code scanned at your table. Until you scan-no menu. Then it pops up on your phone. There are also no humans until you scan and order, so any questions are...still questions. You get a human with your drinks and food-AFTER you’ve ordered and AFTER you’ve paid. It’s sort of cafeteria-esque, but at restaurant prices. There are several restaurants in the place, different flavors. There are no descriptions in the online menu, and, of course no server until... If you are not familiar with Columbian or Puerto Rican food, for instance, you search for the name of the dish online and order based on that generic description. Drinks are the same. You order from your table with a QR code. If you want anything different than the four or five cocktails on the menu, you go up to the bar. It seems that, unless you are drinking at the bar, the drink orders come by way of servers with QR codes, so the bartenders don’t really register you. It took about 20 minutes to get a drink-and the bar was not crowded. Lots of open seats. Once they get to you, it’s fine, and the drinks are very good. My custom cocktail was fine and my husband loved his bourbon cocktail that was on the menu. If I could remember the name of it, I’ll order it next time we go. Food service was slow. We weren’t in a great hurry, so it wasn’t an issue for us, but it took enough time that we both started wondering where the food had got to. We ordered yuca fries (terrific! light and tasty! and mofongo (cold, heavy and covered with a less than memorable sauce . The online version looked way better. Other menu items, seen passing by on the way to other diners, looked fantastic and we’ll order some of them next time. Looking at the reviews, it seems there’s the option of going up to the restaurants and ordering, so we’ll try that next time, too.
Chefscape is a great concept, executed very professionally in Leesburg. Fun as a bar! Fun for foodies! Fun for special events! And a super resource for up and coming local chefs! It 's a win for everybody! Walking in, there 's a small retail area with t shirts, **** mary mix and mix your own six beer then you walk into a large bar area... The bartender, Colin, is attentive, makes interesting, well informed conversation and fantastic drinks! We had **** Marys, garnished with a sprig of fragrant Rosemary, a Winter rita which was awesome! And a pineapple upside down drink, which sounds like it might be too sweet, but wasn 't. Home made grenadine might be the secret! I would and actually have! try any of them again! My buddy had a bourbon cocktail that was outstanding, smooth and buttery, but I can 't remember it 's name. The first time I walked in, Colin explained how Chefscape works... You can sit at the bar or a high top or at the tables, or even couches, enjoy a drink and relax. When you 're ready, you can visit one of the food vendors along the back walls. I think there were 6 when we were there, ranging from Johnny Ray 's, who 's been there for a year, to a new ish Columbian place, a Puerto Rican place and an awesome place called Flavours, whose nachos are calling to me even now. Hello? I miss you! I 'll be your best friend! Eat me! I 'm the best nachos on the planet! The sticky chicken wings at Johnny Ray 's were big meaty wings with a crunchy coating and a sauce that was crack level addictive! They 're group texting me with the nachos! So, enough fan girrrrling, back to the mechanics, you order and pay for your food at each individual booth. The vendor s give you a number s to display where you 're sitting, and they deliver the food to you on a metal tray. You bus your own tray after you eat, btw. The service was pretty prompt both times we were there. The first time we were there for brunch, there was a low key family atmosphere. Kids playing a giant connect four game, people chatting.... The second time we were there was a Friday night and it was a low key adult crowd, there to have a good time. They had a really great band playing, people dancing. Lots of smiles and laughter. Drinks, snacks, music just a simple, rocking, happy place! So that 's the front of the house! Now, the back of the house has basically three levels., and this is where Chefscape is really a win for everyone. First they have a large event area with stadium seats. I understand they are having a sold out Mardi Gras drag night in February. There 's trivia on Tuesdays, I think. Second, a room set up for cooking lessons. They do parties, corporate events, birthdays, crafts, etc here. Tilted mirror and all! And, last but certainly not least, they have commercial kitchen spaces for lease including all the equipment and frig/freezer facilities! So, if you 're a home chef, a food truck or a caterer who needs certified commercial kitchen space and equipment to work? Come talk to these folks. I understand they have space in Ashburn too. So, that 's why Chefscape is a WIN WIN WIN! There 's something for everybody!
A great idea lots of choices like a food court but...we ordered at Colombians Place but after 45 minutes when we checked on our order it was still another 30+ minutes until it was ready! The problem UNDER STAFFED! We cancelled the order and the lady waiting on line refunded our money all of it. We had received our drinks and she gave us an order of empandas which were very good. The owners have to have more staff or this place will vanish.
We've hosted two dinner parties and a family dinner with Sweet Home Thai, what a great experience! Super easy and so yummy. Our guest can be as involved in the cooking experience as they wish while enjoying the dining experience. Great way to gather a small or large group without the work. Heather does all the prep work, planning, shopping, chopping and clean up. Our children havealso enjoyed it, attending Sweet Home Thai summer camp and hosting a Mother's Day cooking party. Our cooking experiences have sparked a love of cooking, gathering and healthy eating for our entire family.
